    What i think would be a good start(TM) would be a program that interprets config files and turns them into GUI menus when possible, turning integers into fields, lists of commented out options into checklists/dropdown menus, etc. I know it wouldn't be perfect but it would make editing a config file less scary for less experienced users

    I doubt that, if anything the eMachines line will remain in the low-cost area with Gateway labeling taking the high-end side, or having Gateway do the customized machines and eMachines offer their typical 4-Desktop variety

    yea and Buisnesses are going to be buying Gateway/eMachines computers? maybe eMachines for the $399 unit being the cheapest out there as a basic office computer but probably not.

    Hundreds of lines of crap like "f[23]=f[11]*(f[17]-f[1])".

    For the love of $DEITY why would arrays be used in place of real variable names in a real programming language, the only place that makes sense is for the "release" versions of Graphing calculator apps using arrays like "FOOints[] to avoid stepping on saved data of other programs on the calculator and to make cleanup easy (after you are done you have to have a DelVar(varname) otherwise your program would leave all it's variables lying around wasting space on the calculator when the program terminates, and i sure as hell wouldn' convert it by hand.... find/replace "xPos" "gARRAY[3]"

    just set a keyboard macro, first switch [return] and [alt+return] actions (assuming alt+retun does nothing in your coding environment) then set a macro so [Return] executes

    (noth that i know how to do all that on a modern OS but old word processors did it and assuming a *nix environment you should be able to mess with that kind of stuff

    sounds like my first experience doing Flash coding *shudder* i had been taking AP computer science and learning c++ then switched to flash after the finals and it's like "WTF, am i coding or drawing.... this sucks" there are some fun things you can do with it (since our "arrays" were just a string with a number appended to the end as variable names you could put any object into the array as long as it had the right actions that could be performed on it) and it wasn't a bad thing to learn how to use sinusoidal calculaitons along with timer loops to make the cursor object spin and change size at different rates

    I also have my serial port camera still kicking around mainly because i don't worry about it getting fucked up (was $100 new) and it holds well over 100 pics on a 32 meg card (stores at 1024x768 high quality but the file size goes down on blurry pics so i get to take even more pics than most people) too bad I/O magic doesn't make the magicimage 500 anymore.... just the crappy magicimage 400 (320xWhatever) shitcams and the magicimage 500 drivers are win95/98 so it takes a bit of a fight to get it installed to XP but it is a great little camera as long as you have alot of ambient light (sunny day outside) 'cause the flash doesn't seem to synch with the image capture at all.

    there is a set of several elvish fonts.... not too hard to install the right font on computers, look up Tengwar scribe and the associated elvish fonts

    if you check out Information unlimited, especially THE SIZZLER at 20 foot range
    they have a device which is more like a traditional stun gun than a taser but emits an arc outwards... seems like a more formidable weapon against a mugger and less likely to be foiled by a heavy vest

    NOTE: their site seems to be full of fake stuff but that is not so.... I have purchased from them before (got a Laser pointer from them 9 years ago when laser pointers were not common like they are today, and it came with a pamphlet with alot of the same stuff they advertise now so it is the same company as back then)

    Right off the bat without much customization they could shrink their logo by 7% by going to PNG instead of GIF using the exact same palette, drop it down to a 115 color pallete (almost unchanged visually, slight granularity added to shadow) and i can cut the file by 40%

    That wasn't FUD, I USED IE and it actually did behave that way at times (Having IE explode and take down the 9x kernel was always fun, especially when doing homework/essays) fortunately the NT/2k/XP kernel is significantly better armored than the 9x kernel but IE does still Explode sometimes and when it does it has a habit of leaving messy pieces all over.

    the randomizer chips and other control circuitry in a slot machine must be certified by the gambling commission, if tampered with the casino has a very good chance of being shut down on the spot and fined massive amounts of dollars, as well as possibly being liable to being sued for every dollar ever lost to their slot machines
