    That's almost exactly how hardware patents work. If your patent states "a method to make oak-wood gizmo", then a maple-wood gizmo won't violate it.

    There are ways to work around this, for example patenting "a method to create a gizmo using knobs frobbing". But they can be worked around by using "frob knobbing" even if it's a trivial replacement.

    Nope. Bruce Perens is right.

    You can't mix really high-speed (i.e. 500km/h) and freight trains. In your article 'high-speed' means "sub 200km/h".

    Russia got the same exact problem on Moscow-Saint-Petersburg line, for example.

    Newsflash: torture doesn't prevent and hasn't prevented any terrorist attacks since 9/11.

    Moreover, torture only weakens image of USA in the world, probably provoking MORE attacks.

    Unforeseen events tend to average out. So taxi company just adds a couple of percents to the price to compensate for it.

    And most certainly, drivers do make money.

    Yup. That's how taxi works here in Kiev (Ukraine).

    When I order a taxi over the phone, I'm immediately told what the price is going to be, so you pay exactly this sum to the driver (+tips).

    And now it's the driver's problem to chose the shortest and fastest route. If we get stuck in a jam - I'm not paying more.

    There's MonoXNA ( http://code.google.com/p/monoxna/ ) already. But it's nowhere close to complete or even usable state.

    My rough guesstimate gives about 30 man-years to produce a near-complete XNA implementation.
