    My atrix allows debugging over the usb port. To enable it just check a box in the settings. Find some script written by a teenager in his mom's basement, and you have an unlocked phone.

    Before 4.0 there weren't any amd64 binaries from mozilla. There was nothing stopping anyone from compiling 64-bit binaries.

    Same idea as google's perpetual betas. All software has bugs, but it's easier to explain when you can just say that something is pre-release.

    Yes, and Windows can set noexec on all directories writable by user without elevation.

    Since many windows programs are downloaded as executable files, it could make installing software harder for many users.

    As well, it doesn't really secure you againt PEBKAC-enabled malware. If the user will willingly download and run a random executable, why do you put it past him to click/type through any UAC/sudo prompts the OS might pop up? In fact, we already know that users will happily do that, from Vista/7 experience.

    I think that the point is that while many will click on the prompt, the rest will not. This allows them to target the rest.

    If malware started placing scripts and executables in a user's home directory, then I think distros could easily modify their installers to create a separate home directory and put the noexec option in fstab for that partition. I don't think most users would notice since most software comes from the package manager. Then if malware places a file in a place like ~/.kde4/autostart/ it won't do anything. Files like ~/.bashrc can be made immutable.

    ...because nothing say fuck you like introducing a bill that was never intended to be signed into law. Legislators from everywhere at all levels of government routinely introduce bills intended more as a statement than as an action.

    You can mount your home directories with the noexec option. They can save a file in your home directory, but it can't do anything then.

    Agreed. You can still add icons to the desktop, it just isn't representing a folder where crud seems to accumulate.

    I don't care about annotations, because I think they are annoying most of the time. The only one that I've encountered was the lack of a true full screen mode. (Hit F11) The real thing is that many videos are unavailable in WebM, but it seems like more and more are becoming available. I'd say flash is buggier. For a while flash crashed instantly on my computer because it was trying to use a feature not available on my cpu. And lets not forget about security holes.

    My motorola phone says made in china, the blanket I have wrapped around me says made in china, and my jeans say made in pakistan. I'm just cynical. And as a million other comments on this article say, your solution won't result in the outcome that you desire.

    This entire thing makes me a little embarrassed to use an Iphone tho it is required by work.

    What in makes you think that other companies are any better in this regard? Apple isn't the only company that contracts with foxconn you know.

    That said, the apple pr department should be ashamed for not having a better response.

    The right to take someone's picture and use their likeness has always been protected the first amendment, even before the internet existed. See Nussenzweig v. DiCorcia.

    a) Noncompliance in the first place would have seriously hurt her argument. The judge's opinion appears to be primarily based on how truthful she was with her doctor.

    b.1) She told her doctor that she was quiting drinking. Again the decision was based on her truthfulness.

    b.2) TFA says the medication was for bipolar disorder. Judge's opinion says that she had Bipolar II. (This opinion is linked to from the TFA.)

    TFA states that she told her mental health care providers that she was cutting back on her drinking. The judge never states how lying to your doctor makes you a bad parent, but that seems to be his conclusion.

    And this flash support has been problematic for linux users. Using Firefox 4 I can happily watch videos encoded in the webm format. Flash has had problems on amd64. At times it seems to be unsupported, other times it has been compiled to use instructions unsupported by my newcastle cpu. The need for open source software isn't just a philosophical one, but also a practical one.

    Your dealer has the drugs that you want. Your doctor will give you the drugs that you "need" whether or not you want them. I mean who goes into their doctor requesting lipitor?

    Desoxyn is approved for ADHD and weight loss. So according to the feds it does have a legitimate medical use. And all you need is a prescription from your doctor.

    Pretty much. I doubt most doctors with their limited patient interaction are actually doing a thorough diagnosis and checking for contradictions. The difference pretty much comes down to purity, amount used, and route of administration.
