  1. Re:Pat down, or molest? on TSA To Make Pat-Downs More Embarrassing To Encourage Scanner Use · · Score: 5, Insightful

All this is really going to do is make the already financially unstable airline industry even more likely to go into bankruptcy. The only time I fly now is if work forces it upon me. I'm tired of these TSA thugs, they are becoming more and more like prison guards these days and we the public are the new fish being introduced to their penal system. Where's the for the children tag when you need it. If the backscatter scanner doesn't violate them enough the TSA "child molester" pat down will definitely seal the deal. I wonder what future generations will say about our obsession with security in years to come? I don't think we'll come out smelling like roses.

  3. Re:Legal use of big bandwidth paying the price... on Comcast Outlines New Broadband Policy · · Score: 1

Comcast's cable network was never designed to handle Video on Demand services, much less BitTorrent. Couple that with the fact that they over subscribed their network, and you get what you are seeing now. Until fiber starts to replace more of the existing copper, you're going to see this type of QoS activity from most providers (that or more sinister types of throttling). This is the kind of crap that happens when marketing is divorced from the IT.

If Macs ever get to be the predominant platform or to common, Im switching to Linux. Call me a troll or whatever (Im a Mac user and have been for over a decade, so you other zealots feel free to mode down one of your own), but I dont want the Mac to grow anymore than it already has. Id much rather see OSS software take over the market and let the others be a paid choice.

  7. IPv6 for the win on LAN Turns 30, May Not See 40? · · Score: 1

"Besides dipping into networking nostalgia, the article also quotes an analyst who says the LAN may be nearing its demise and predicts that all machines will be individually connected to one huge WAN at gigabit speeds." Although it would be throwing security out the windows (pun intended), IPv6 could facilitate this giant WAN concept.

  8. I bought an iPod at Best Buy... on Best Buy Customer Gets Box Full of Bathroom Tiles Instead of Hard Drive · · Score: 1

This was back during the days when Apple actually gave you accessories with your purchase of an iPod. I opened the box in the parking lot and there was a bottle of baby talcum powder, a pack of playing cards, and a little rubber pig piggy bank. The store recognized the shrink wrapping as being counterfeit and used the contents as an example at the returns counter so employees would look a little more closely at returns.

I stayed away from Diet drinks due to Aspartame and its siblings and now my high fructose corm syrup addiction lays on the chopping block because of some second rate preservative, is there no decency in the world? Why can't we go back to making things that are only bad for your teeth and waistline, is that to much to ask?

  10. This seems a little sensationalized... on MacBook Hacked In Contest Via Zero-Day Hole in Safari · · Score: 4, Informative

I'm a Mac user and as such I'm not claiming invincibility although the "Unix" like foundation makes me more secure its still the end user's responsibility to not run as admin or God forbid root. Not to mention using a good firewall or correctly configuring the one that's already built in is vital and just practicing caution on the web. That aside I just don't think this is entirely honest, I wish they would disclose all the variables involved to include all settings used. But as others here have said considering Apples foresight using open source means the between Apple and the Konqueror devs this will be quickly addressed. But my gut feeling here is that something stinks in Denmark!
