  1. Remove Spyware from eXeem... on Exeem Open Beta Released · · Score: 1

While installing eXeem, simply agree to the license agreement for the spyware and then on the next screen click 'cancel' - you continue with the config process without installing any spyware at all. I've done a searh and had it running for a few minutes now. No ads within the app and Ad-Aware confirms that my system lacks spyware. Somehow, I doubt this'll last very long.

  2. Joystick? on AlphaGrip's 3D Keyboard Ready For Pre-Orders · · Score: 1

Do other people see joysticks as an actual alternative to a mouse?
I haven't spent any time getting used to something like that but I imagine some people have. I can point the cursor from one side of my screen to the other with a flick of my wrist and that kind of speed makes me dislike slower (at least initially) forms of movement, like a joystick. The question is if I hold the joystick slightly off-center, will it keep moving in that direction or stop slightly off center of the screen? Traditionally, I'm used to seeing the former but has anyone used a joystick with the latter form of movement?

  3. Diveintomark.org on Weblog System Features Compared · · Score: 1

The last link (to diveintomark.org) is now hosed but he posted another article after his 'Freedom-0' article which adds to the original article. He states in the first that all non-free software eventually leads nowhere but then explains his opinion further (with the admission that he uses plenty of non-free software as well) in his newer article. Also, I agree with the comment that it's a fairly limited comparison and really nothing you should base a professional decision off of. You have to experience the community and the CMS before you commit to it, in my opinion.

  5. Postage due.... Postage declined on Gates on Spam · · Score: 1

I was reading about this when Gates first suggested it a few weeks ago and I found one of the ideas pretty interesting. You would be charged by the person you sent the email to (in a paypal-like way, I suppose) and the person who recieves the email has the ability to decline the payment if it's from someone you know... and like.

  7. Re:Oh, gotta rant, gotta rant on this one... on Compensation for Bandwidth Costs is Extortion? · · Score: 1

You're right, 'hits' is a terrible way to measure bandwidth. Next update on this article we'll see that he's been converting all the images on the site to those pixel-by-pixel tables and one page load is 3,000+ 'hits.'

  8. Original Article... on New Dinosaurs Found in Antarctica · · Score: 5, Informative

I don't remember hearing about one of these since I was younger - I suppose my focus has shifted since then :) It still excites me nonetheless.

Anyway, the original National Science Foundation article can be found here and contains a little more info and some better pictures.

  9. Technology or New Technology? on Correlation Between Stress and Technology? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Growing up with certain technology, I feel like a lot of technology simply makes my life easier with a lot less stress. There is an intrinsic understanding of this technology (programming VCRs, being able to operate a computer without many erros and whatnot - simple stuff) that allows many people of my age to use these things flawlessly. I think it's stressful for people who need to learn something new (my father trying to program the VCR for example or even myself when I'm working with a new programming language or something like that) and have a hard time adjusting to it.

And decides that instead of upgrading to x-serves, they're going to rip out the insides of ALL the G5s and replace them with dual xenon systems. Hell, why replace the cases when they're already all pretty-like?

  11. What about FIRST jr Robotics? on Lego Goes Back to the Basics: Building Blocks · · Score: 1

The FIRST lego league[1] relies upon lego mindstorms for their materials. I'm sure someone's eager to snatch that position up (or they'll revert to using the edubot[2] from the highschool competition) but will it ever be the same?
