Wow, I never knew someone could confuse the facts so easily simply because I didn't list any of the bands that I like, as if that proves your point or something. I possibly know lots more about touring than you do since I've done it for years, professionally. How about a few more incorrect assumptions for the next reply?!?!
"You won't find any of those artists on eMule or Bittorrent, because P2P isn't used to trade hard-to-find music."
I may not be able to find the groups you listed there but then again you didn't list any "hard-to-find" music. Hard to find music is the stuff that we called "Alternative" before everyone thought they had right to call themselves alternative after the Sea-Rattle Grunge Scene blew up. Strangely enough I find the real hard-to-find artists on BT, winmx, shareaza and emule/edonkey easily though.
Oh, and it's not "Hey, I'm making sure System of a Down doesn't get paid today.", they've already been paid and aren't likely to see another dollar since the record companies are worse than pimps many times and will put a band so far in debt to them that they have to continue with little pay or go bankrupt. Marketing and production costs can make the end-of-year total for a band less than $100,000. Split that 4 ways.
The REAL money is made for bands on a tour where they receive a MUCH higher percentage of the overall take(tickets, merchandising, etc.) Proof of this lies in one of the most financially successful bands of all time, The Grateful Dead, who didn't care if people copied their music and taped their shows because they made all of it back on a single tour by charging for the tshirts, tickets, and getting a percentage from vendors. They actually had such a following that the band made several hundreds of times more per fan per tour than they would have ever gotten from the record company. And that's not a fluke since they did it for 25+ years.
Yes and no. It really wouldn't have to increase the power output if you are simply adding the H/O mixture to gasoline/air because the gasoline is already producing enough power to run the rest of the electrical system and split the water. Try it. 12 volts @ 1 amp will produce a decent amount of "fuel" and car batteries/alternators have far more than that available especially when you consider that alternators are only on when charging the battery, which would be more often if there was more of a current drain.
It's not perfect, nor is it gonna make you tell the oil companies to F-off, but it will likely give you much better gas mileage.
You should learn what it means for something to be a perpetual-motion machine(PPM) because this isn't one of those.
It IS possible to give a car fuel made from water and it will run. If that's the only fuel it gets then the only exhaust will be what happens when 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen combine with some heat added(the answer is water vapor).
It is NOT possible to create a PPM by taking this exhaust and feeding it back to the fuel tank because it is not a lossless system and it will take electricity to electrolyze the water. Count in friction, etc. and you will need to charge your battery quite often.
However, adding the hydrogen/oxygen to a gasoline mixture is an idea I had been working on also and it does add some fuel efficiency to be certain.
P.S. UCC 1-207 applies to unrevealed contracts like the EULA/TOU. And as has been previously stated, it will be extremely hard for that decision to stick with years and years of precedent to the contrary.
Well they've been found enforceable in 2 states, of 50. I'm not impressed.
It seems that this part of the UCC would address any reverse engineering issues(the thing it seems is the REAL issue in that case, not the EULA, TOU) since it is well within your rights to reverse engineer anything as long as you do not violate trademark, patent, contract or copyright laws in doing so. The company telling me that I can't do something doesn't make it LAW, hence it's still within my rights.
" 1-207. Performance or Acceptance Under Reservation of Rights.
(1) A party who with explicit reservation of rights performs or promises performance or assents to performance in a manner demanded or offered by the other party does not thereby prejudice the rights reserved. Such words as "without prejudice", "under protest" or the like are sufficient.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to an accord and satisfaction. "
Oh, that's not the least of it. It seems that they were simply being charged with reverse engineering their technology, if what little I got to read is an accurate account.
Reverse engineering has always been at the forefront of technology and without it we wouldn't have chip manufacturers like AMD, etc. If I figure out how to make The Olive Garden's new pasta dish by looking at the results, it is not considered a crime so why would it be a crime to watch what is going over your network and building something from it? It's NOT. It's called competition and we should welcome it.
Ok, this is the message I was looking for but it and the previous one I responded to should have been in the same post.
Power consumption doesn't equal sound pressure level(SPL). 1 watt with speakers/headphones with an SPL of 90dB@1ft. sounds 10 times louder than 1 watt with an SPL of 80dB@1ft. SPL pretty much equals raw efficiency in this case but has nothing to do with the quality/frequency response.
However, you are right..if you consume 1 watt at a certain volume level with 8 ohms, it will be quite lower consumption at the same volume level with 32 ohms.
I think you've described this backwards. Lower resistance equals MORE power being consumed, not less.
Power = Voltage * Voltage / Resistance
The smaller the resistance, the more power is consumed by the circuit.
I'm hoping that I haven't missed someone correcting this mistake already, if so, I apologize.
Yeah, shrinkwrap licensing doesn't hold water in a real court of law. Check out what you have to go through to buy software(and as I understand sometimes hardware) from Silicon Graphics. They make you physically sign an agreement with them and won't give you your software OR license until you have done so. This isn't for all of their software but is definitely for "the good stuff". They want to make sure that you are 100% physically and legally bound to follow their EULA.
Now how exactly are you going to spoof traffic from my network on that router's interface to me?
My first answer: about 4 phone calls will get me all that I desire. 2nd: Not everyone has your config and I don't hafta spoof the attack coming from your network, I simply have to infect your network from a spoofed or anonymous address...you then provide all the evidence necessary. With the new sendmail vulnerability announced, this is getting easier and easier to accomplish in almost any way I see fit...so where's the challenge in that?
You're right that I misused the terms...it's an old habit that I learned from school(and media) I've been trying to unlearn for years. However a fusion reactor really isn't all that new of a thing by any means and isn't really close to cold fusion as a benchmark.. Now, if you're asking me if it's SCARY; hell yeah it's scary but it's not unexpected for someone to be able to do it at such a young age. Make the right friends and you can get access to the materials. I never pursued the idea beyond high school because I had a keener interest in quantum mechanics where there was real mystery but, well frankly, there was more money and chance of advancement in computer programming. I was young and needed the $$$..:) However, I do still ponder a few quantum mysteries..hence how my friend and I arrived at our conclusions about particle/wave theory.
Your experience indicates that you seem able to answer my other question.
This is freakin FUSION?! Why am I thinking this is one of the holy grails of physics?
Is it?
Nah, it's COLD fusion that's a holy grail.. Fission is a good runner-up if it can be done efficiently/safely(usually it results in a mushroom cloud). Fusion is how almost all reactors work...the think with this kid is that he's so young and did it all by himself(I assume).
Jeez, is the guy that retarded? He'd be the first unknowing propagator if I wrote worms/virii just to make a point...especially since hiding the origin wouldn't be difficult. *Knowingly* propagating them is already a federal crime..what the hell does he hope to accomplish? Seems it's time for a non-wintendoze OS for the masses...QNX anyone?
I need to add that this is only ever been a hobby for me...I don't have the attention span to do it professionally..but I have the skill to do it well.
If you think this guy is brilliant, take a look at this guy's page. He built a CYCLOTRON(!!!) when he was in his senior year of HS! (he's now doing grad school work at Fermilab, what a shocker)
Only a senior? I built 3 different types of particle accelerators: linear, betatron and a cyclotron in high school...but I was also the student that was delving into quantum mechanics, anti-matter, UFT, etc....my psychics teacher retired after all the questions I had for him...I joke about it now but it could very well be true. A friend and I have finally stumbled on the answer to a question that has puzzled scientists forever...how electrons can be particles and waves interchangeably. We're submitting our paper to the community in the next few months once we have all the angles covered.
I appreciate that companies like Verizon and SBC are refusing to submit to the powers that these subpoenas stem from but I'm always curious if they're interested in our privacy or simply avoiding a lawsuit if they were to hand over the data without fighting.
They would need to start by getting rid of Windows, which they apparently have standardized on. Not a good start.
I'd like to remind everyone that the FIRST worm was for sendmail/Unix before there ever was such a thing as the www-anything or even Windoze 1.0, IIRC. I'm not promoting wintendoze by any means...just putting a little perspective on the situation.
Banking isn't the only area where this happens. I run a computer recycling biz on the sidelines to donate computers to needy organizations/kids and I have had government agencies give me computers fully loaded with super confidential information..like criminal records, medical histories, psychological profiles, login/passwords for government agencies, the list goes on and on. This is on the state level I have to say but sheesh. At least the federal government usually has the sense to pull the hard drives and erase them the good old fashioned way..with a sledge hammer.
The title killed me because it seems google already won the filesharing war. Think about it. Type in the name of your favorite program or song that you want a pirated copy of and I'll guarantee you'll find it available somewhere...and a crack to go with it. This isn't always true and google does a pretty good job of keeping the numbers down but it seems that it has been acting as a filesharing "program" all this time.
Secondly, I know that some of us "old skewlers" are more than aware of at least 2 major filesharing programs that have been out since before there was a WWW-anything...I ain't evoking the names because I like the fact that not everyone is aware they even exist..much less that they could be used to download music.
Not that I condone making the corporations lose their current marketing structure...nope...I *encourage* it.
You must be talking about Negativland's work with some sound bites of his. I really loved the "In (whatever city), you're listening to it on one-three-eight-ooooh-fuck." Those guys are worth listening to...gotta love guys who can with one song have Island rekkids suing them without so much as a cease and desist order..
I hafta say you have a point..I hate the RIAA and the MPAA and putting so much as a penny in their pockets bothers me to no end..for that reason I only own a dvd player because it came with the ps2 and I only have like 4-6 dvd's because they came free with other stuff we bought. Not even venturing into the BS with RIAA in current events or the MPAA and 2600 Magazine.
I've been awaiting such a release of this animation since I first learned of Dali. WOW! I'll hafta buy it when it's released on video too... I specifically got Alfred Hitchcock's 'Vertigo' because it has a dream sequence that Dali created. And I've been simply dying to see the hologram of Alice Cooper's brain that he did also...anyone know where it's located?
Identity theft is amazingly simple and with the rise of the information age, identity theft's ease will increase all the more.
Today everyone puts confidential information on forms, etc. and submits them "securely". Well, SSL is a good start but the biggest cause of identity theft is the human factor. For those of you who have a Paypal account, maybe you got an email in the past couple months that said your account was being verified..blah..blah... Have any idea how many people fall for that crap? I train people for a living to teach them how to stop this type of information theft and yet my own family still calls me up to ask if it was bad for them to have entered all their personal information in a piece of email.
Kinda reminds me of when the popups started appearing that looked like Wintendoze had an error but were really adverts for some corporate sleezeball to sell his lame software...pfft.
Sandbox, that's exactly what I was gonna say. Why the idea of the sandbox never caught on earlier I'll never know. I don't know if the concept had been introduced at the time but while emulating a Wintel machine on an Amiga(anyone remember those?:) the idea hit me that "memory management" could be easily implemented by setting memory limits, etc. per process as the emulator was doing for the PC processes.
