It is partially in jest, but LOGO was created to teach kids how to program. Real world wise, though, I would say C or PHP. They are both currently used, relatively easy to learn and require no cost to get started.
Yes, it is not good that there is malware targeting Firefox, but it shows that Firefox is on it's way to be a market leader/dominator. Much like the recommendation of using antivirus on Macs, this shows that there is enough of a market penetration for Firefox that it has garnered the attention of malware writers.
What stops the "licensed" sellers from buying copper from the tweakers? I live in the Portland, OR area and this is a big problem. They were laying down new line for our light rail system and had to post extra security to prevent the tweakers from stealing the metal used for the tracks.
What they NEED to do is require not only an ID from people selling the metal, but NOT TO PAY THEM ON THE SPOT. They can get their check in 30 days MAILED to their house. If these tweakers need to give out an address then they will be less likely to go to the recyclers.
Of course, this doesn't 100% negate the above point I first made, but makes it significantly more difficult for metal thieves. It also allows Joe consumer an avenue to sell of scrap lying in their yard without any extra burden.
Additionally, the recyclers should require some type of receipt for all the metal they take so that there is at least a semblance of a paper trail.
I don't know if others have had better success, but I was unable to paste a moderate amount of text. A small amount of text pasted in worked, though. I guess it could be because they are slammed by Slashdot users.
I've always wondered why this term is ever supposed to mean anything. I mean, wasn't the "Space Age" in the 50's and 60's? Are they trying to tell you that their product is using 5o year old technology?
Sorry, can't do that. As you enter the town it the town sign claims it is a "Nuclear Free Zone."
No joke, I used to live in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol is common joke in most of Sonoma County.
We have corrupt politicians, corrupt corporations, corrupt government officials. Voting is a big farce as it is, without introducing tamperable electronic voting into the mix. I've always said, your vote does NOT count. Corporate America chooses all the major political positions in this country. When you get down to the local level, small to medium-sized cities and sometimes counties, you are ok. Anything bigger than that, though, it is all about corporate interests. This country is run by the oil and pharmaceutical industries, with defense contractors close behind. They buy and sell their way into whatever position they can get to further their own interests and fill their pockets with more taxpayer dollars.
If you want to know what the situation is really like, listen to Rage Against the Machine and Public Enemy. Rage puts it best when they say "What? The land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy!"
Phreaking may be decades old, but other crimes such as racketeering, wire fraud, bank robbery, etc. are decades, even centuries old. As times progress, crime progresses along with it. If you try using phreaking techniques from decades ago they likely will not work. Likewise, in a few years the telcos will have figured out how to prevent caller ID spoofing. When this happens new tools will be developed for other nefarious deeds.
Me, too. I want to be an "Immigrant Inspector" at make $3000/year. Of course, when I first saw the ad I thought it was one of those "Work from home and make $2000/week." Then I looked again and noticed it was $2000/year. Funny how inflation changes the way you think.

Well, the news is that the government is slow and just now figuring out that this is a problem...
Oh wait, that's not news either

As long as they don't go over water, then you need POWER!

That's what I said. Looks nothing like R2D2, except maybe because it has a little blue on it.
You forgot David Gilmour and Tom Morello
Perhaps he was dictating!
This guy could have been a contender for a Darwin award...
Did Winston Smith get these articles?
That is the first thing I thought of and the only reason for reading the comments for this one.
Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!
Sleep....
Well, my handle IS "mamono" ;)
I was surprised to see this as the only CSI reference, and so far down at that. That was the first thing I thought of, well, after Skynet.

Oh, wait...between the UK and the US they pretty much have that done.
