    Oh please, child leashes are a God send for toddlers. My kid loves the freedom he gets with his. Of course when the day comes that he actually responds to his name or a firm, "No" will be the day he's too old for it.

    Wow, knee jerk repsonse. Shivetya was filling in examples for the following statement in the link in question:

    The contractor shall include in the information posted by non-EOP persons on publicly-accessible web sites where the EOP maintains a presence both comments posted on pages created by EOP and messages sent to EOP accounts on those web sites. Publicly-accessible sites may include, but are not limited to social networking sites.

    That's a big problem with government: they don't compensate high performers appropriately. Furthermore, they routinely compensate poor performers and promote them out of departments.

    Anything that could be remotely related to harming my liver or destroying my muscle tissue, citation or not, I am going to avoid like the plague.

    Not to mention, carbs are my staple food (as they are for most people). They're inexpensive and provide hunger satisfaction.

    They don't satisfy your hunger as well as proteins and fats. And that is why we have so many obese people; carbs are easily obtained and easily consumed in large quantities. You are better off with a diet high in protein with moderate carbs and moderate fat. No I am not going to cite, just giving you some friendly advice.

    If you are worried about destroying your liver, then avoid your regular fast food trips. This article claims it's the carbs that are the problem.

    I'm sure it makes you feel better that you have a side to pick, but the reality is, both parties are to blame. Don't sit on your laurels and trust any of the politicians. Make them accountable.

    21% goes to our dwindling Social Security porgram.
    16.6% goes to the DoD
    13.3% goes to Medicare
    11.2% goes to unemployment
    9% pays the interest on national debt
    7.2% goes to Medicaid
    5% went to the war on terror
    2.4% Health and Human Services
    etc.

    So to summarize: only 21.6% went to the protection of the U.S. whereas well over 60% went to social programs

    My Dad was into programming and I was into games. He tried a few times to get me into programming, but I just wasn't focused enough yet. He also introduced me to many scientific studies and side projects ranging from electrostatics, water purifying, model rocketry and solar power. This was back in the late 80s.

    Today I'm into all of that stuff and am a senior developer and software architect as a profession, but I'm sure I seemed less than enthusiastic at the time. He was fairly patient with me and is surprised how much I still remember.

    So, remember, you are doing the right thing, but you may not get immediate results.

    I'm talking about the REAL unemployment rate (all people between 16 and 64 who not working, regardless of whether they are job-seekers or not).

    A socialist government takes care of the vast majority of people by taxing those those few who actually work hard, perform well, and make a lot of money. Thank you for redistributing my money for me, I had no idea what to do with it.

    Social Security? IRS? Medicare? Please... there is nothing transparent about government waste. If it weren't for market based funding there would be no improvements in the health care system. Who do you think is going to do drug research for free?

    Try Europe where you can get 35 hour work weeks and 35% unemployment. There everyone has the same mediocre health care and they STILL have to have insurance if they want any care beyond antibiotics or the setting of a broken bone.

    ... It doesn't matter what we do. If 6 billion people go to ANYTHING they will destroy it. And we are headed towards 9 to 11 billion last I heard. You are right. But don't worry, nature will find a way to fix that problem. I don't believe I will live to see it, but the Earth may very well be pristine again after the meek inherit it.
    I hate to make light of the situation, as there are definitely things we can do to better our current situation environmentally. But in the grand scheme, the Earth will be just fine... until the Sun envelops it.

    The Civil War caused the need to commandeer whaling ships as cargo ships. Coal mining was already taking place and kerosene became an easier resource to collect than whale blubber (due to the lack of available whaling ships). Perhaps we read different history books?

    What's your point? There's too much infrastructure in place to expect oil to stop being used immediately. It's not like kerosene wiped out the demand for whale oil overnight. It took decades.

    They should continue, "unfortunately, there are a fair amount of countries that don't have access to the sun. " If industrialized nations decreased the demand for oil, the price would decrease as well. This means cheaper oil for the solar-challenged countries.

    The point is they are tweaking the yellow lights such that it causes you to either slam on brakes or run a red light. So, yes, in your town maybe slamming on your brakes is not necessary if you are paying attention, but TFA is describing the recalibration of lights that make it impossible to safely stop while driving the speed limit without hard braking or running the light. (And there are two on my commute to work!) And don't give me idealist crap about everyone driving under the speed limit because that is NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

    Besides the dangerous runs are the really blatant ones the are run well after the light turns red, not this getting caught in the middle bs they ticket you for.
