If you have to ask others what tattoo you should get, you really shouldn't be getting a tattoo.

  2. Seriously, people? on Tornado Scientists Butt Heads With Storm Chasers · · Score: -1

Siding with the amateurs? People need to get the fuck out of the way and let the real scientists do their jobs. If you're not doing anything important, get the fuck out of the way and let people with actual instrumentation work. Yes, I understand that everyone started somewhere. Yes, I understand that legally every licensed driver has the rights to the public roads. But really? Is looking at the pretty tornado so important that it's okay to get in the way of actual scientific research? No.

  3. Honestly not surprised on BFG Exiting Graphics Card Market · · Score: 0, Interesting

I've bought three BFG cards over the years. I figured "Oh cool, a pre-overclocked card. That'll save me a bit of effort". But all of them burned out in less than a week. I have excellent cooling, I had all of my settings correct, I didn't push the card any further than it was already clocked and temps really didn't seem that bad. But they all died on me. All of the cards I replaced them with lasted MUCH longer, and always gave me better performance after overclocking them myself. And honestly, they were just about on par with the BFG cards performance wise even BEFORE overclocking, at the same or lower price. Last card was the last chance for BFG in my eyes, I swore to never buy a card again. A few months later and they stop selling the cards? Coincidence? Probably, yeah. But still.

We go over there to give them aid, and they get mad because we weren't there sooner. When we actually are there, they shoot at us and steal our things. Yes, they had a natural disaster. It sucks. But why don't we divert some of this money we're sending to other nations into OUR home? There are people starving on our streets. There are kids without shoes in our communities. There are homeless people desperately scraping by. If we focused our efforts on OUR country, we'd be able to make sure everyone was well cared for. We have enough money and resources for ourselves, but when we try to play babysitter to the rest of the world, we get shafted. Selfish? Maybe. But sometimes you have to feed your own family first before you worry about the rest of the world.

  5. What the hell? on Geoengineering a Snow-Free Winter Fails In Moscow · · Score: 1

Nobody should mess with nature on a large scale like that. Especially not russia, they're not exactly known for thinking things through properly. Who knows what sort of chain effect this sort of shit could set off? It's bad enough that we alter coastlines, pollute the air, alter tides, etc. Fucking with precipitation is just fucking irresponsible.

I think I'd much rather see more emphasis on proper spelling and grammar before typing. We don't need the aolspeak kiddies cranking out hard to read sentences any faster than they already do. But in all seriousness, we should teach kids how to type in school. I had a typing elective, and it helped a lot.

  9. Don't worry on Murdoch Says, "We'll Charge For All Our Sites" · · Score: 1

It looks like he'll be dead soon anyway, then we can finally have a little less background noise. Unless you provide a service that people can't get anywhere else easily, give it to them free and make what you can from advertising. Maybe make a paid perks system, like an ad-free version of the site, or extra commentary, or SOMETHING unique and marketable. But to think that people won't go to another news site that they can access for free is just silly. Sure, you have idiots that can't use google, and you have diehard fans of his sites that will pay the money, but he's just limiting his audience here.

"That comes to 40 messages a day per user" Wow, anyone who gets 40 spam emails a day must not be very smart. Or their friends must not be very smart and put peoples names on those "Tell your freinds" things (You know, you see a short clip or something and it has like 10 slots underneath for friends e-mail address') If anybody gets a lot of spam, it is usually their fault. I get on average 2 spam emails per day (The most i have gotten in a long time is about 5), and i dont even use any sort of spam blocker/filter. For those of you who get mass spam, here is a hint. For things where you have to enter your e-mail address (Aside from shopping from legit sites or other highly legitimate things), but you dont have any use for mail from them, enter the address of a secondary account you set up for that purpose. That way, if there is confirmation required, you can sign on your secondary account, do any verification required, and never have to read any other spam you may get from that company and/or any companies that may buy your address from the original company.
