I doubt you'll ever get a 'power user' option to replace the dock out of Apple. They'd hate the idea.. Why? It breaks their 'image.' Same reason they refuse to offer themes, even when the underlying structure is there.
Winzip isn't a part of the OS, either. (though it is much more common than winrar or winace) AFAIK, the only archive format XP handles out of the box is.zip. And there are a lot of people out there using XP.
That was published over 4 years ago, and details Motorola getting into linux with Caldera's help.. I don't see why this is suprising, since Caldera was a pretty big player in linux at the time.
I run Gentoo on my g3 powermac, not for the optimizations, but because I just love portage. I haven't tried YDL in a while, but last time I did, I couldn't stand it. It had show stopping bugs in the INSTALLER... sheesh. (I couldn't choose 'custom install' or it would crash, iirc)
Those are all features that look nice on a spec sheet, but the only truely USEFUL one, for most people, is backlit keyboard. I've had firewire (400) on my old Powermac for a good 3 years, and I've used it once or twice. Gigabit is nice to have around, I suppose, but be honest.. Do you have it at home? Or even at work? Same goes for the wireless, especially when most people only use wifi to hop on the internet from the living room or whatever. 11mbps is still a lot faster than any internet connection I've ever seen.
I don't think I've ever seen an intersection that is significantly tilted. That generally doesn't work out too well for the cross street, since most people wouldn't enjoy driving on a tilted road...
Let's see... I'm going to go to college to become a teacher, then I'll bitch because I don't make nearly enough to survive. I'd say that's a case of rampant stupidity since it would be easy to research before you got into that field.
This is a pretty stupid example.. Teachers are probably one of very few jobs that should be protected (as far as making at least enough to live on) because.. WE NEED TEACHERS. Unless you'd prefer no one gets an education?
That all depends on where exactly you live, now doesn't it. If you're in an area thats rich in tech jobs, though, its likely one of those nice expensive areas.
I'm this way, too. The only 'aol-isms' i use are the occasional LOL or smiley in IRC, and this is mostly for lack of a better solution. I pretty much ignore anything with numbers substituted for syllables.
This is actually built into WinXP, too. There's an option to press the control key and it a shrinking circle around the cursor. Its not particularly useful, these days. (no one is using an ancient passive matrix monochrome laptop display anymore.. right?) I also remember using some software to do this on a really old powerbook I picked up. A better solution for your multiple, high resolution displays is to just use a bigger cursor.. At least thats what I'd do.
I'm aware of this, but I've never seen or heard of a non-overclocked CPU wearing out and dying a death of age. Certainly not before its lost its usefulness.:)
That all may be, but that doesn't change the fact that IMHO, Qt is ugly as hell, and I could care less if the big companies chose it.. I can't stand USING it.
The Athlon 64 overclocked poorly compared to P4s. This isn't really too suprising considering its a very new CPU and platform.. Most people seem to be having more trouble with the motherboards than the CPUs. AthlonXPs, both Tbred and Barton cores, overclock amazingly. This is partly because most of them were multiplier unlocked, though they are starting to lock them again.
CPUs should last a pretty long time.. Its not like they're full of moving mechanical parts to wear out. I'm sure there are plenty of AMD 486 clones out there still running just fine. You're not going to hear about them, though, because nobody cares if a 486 is still running. Personally I've never seen a CPU, be it AMD, Intel, Motorola, IBM, or whoever, wear out.. Thats a silly reason to stick with Intel.:)

And was that because of the interface (not the LOOK, but the FEEL) or because of the shitty underlying hack-job that was the classic mac os?
Communication isn't a huge problem, you just need a couple of communication satellites to relay things.

Not really a hand grenade anymore, then, is it.
There's an easy enough solution. All you have to do is put the lunar base on the "dark" side of the moon. Who said it has to face the earth?
Easy.. That wouldn't get them money and attention.
Yeah, I heard V3 and later was pretty decent (I think I tried 2.0) but I'd already made my switch, by then. :)

Or they live in a country where cost of living is far, far lower.
Calc.exe comes up nearly instantly on my Athlon, since you asked.
Try reading the transcript.. It will make much more sense, then.

Usually if a page doesn't load, I just try another website to see if its my connection... :)

Weight constraints, I'd guess.
