"...scientists fitted a harmless suction cup to the dolphin's head..."
Okay, harmless is good...
"... when the pings reached 203 decibels and were repeated, the neurological data showed the mammal had become deaf..."
Hmm... not so harmless. 203db would to some pretty significant and permanent damage to human ears and ours aren't even as sensitive as dolphins'.
How is this surprising?
Don't care what naysayers are spouting. I want one. And I'm nowhere near super rich (lower middle class, actually). Sure, I'd need a pilot's license -- they don't just give those things away like they do with driver's licenses.
Sure, the price tag is a bit steep -- about twice the cost of a Cessna 162 (a two-seat light sport plane) yet only 2/3 the cost of a Cessna 172 (4-seat personal aircraft).
It comes down to desire and value.
If you desire something and that thing has value to you, then it's worth having and you work towards it.
Apparently, enough people have the desire and perceive value in it to justify its production.
This is just another example of a true-life story that is so mind-numbingly stupid that you would almost think it came from the front page of The Onion. Thesetools can suck one.
In traditional/. fashion, I didn't even bother to RTFA... but I can just envision the folks at Open U saying, "We know you aren't using your brain, so, please, donate your brain to medical research today!"
I know some people I'd like to volunteer for the program. That lemon who made the lane change across all six lanes of the expressway at the last possible second this afternoon, for example.
Or maybe the fact that he did it was evidence that he'd already donated his brain to medical research.
[Yeah, it's working hard.]
'Course, on that box it takes about four minutes for a reboot. Most of that time is waiting for system BIOS and RAID controllers to start.

...then they'll be really pissed off about my 40 S&W, 10mm, 38 Special, 357, 20-gauge shotshells, and the shit-load of "underpowered" 22LRs that I have squirreled away.
I'd like a taser, but as a one-shot defensive weapon, the odds of using one to stop an attack of some psychopath are pretty low. Give me a concealed handgun with a couple of 16-round magazines to balance the odds against the psychotic animal attacking my family.
Dear Members of EU Parliment,
I have absolutely had it with Politically Correct bullshit. Fuck you and everybody who thinks like you.
Hateful enough for ya'?
The RIAA attorney asked her, "Did you wipe this drive?"
The defendant replied, "Yes... with Formula 409 and a damp rag..."
At that point, with the admission of guilt, the RIAA attorneys sent their so-called "experts" out to find out more about this "Formula 409" program.
Is it just me or does anyone else find that there's an unusually large number of unique fossils coming from China? Maybe it's because, like products manufactured for Walmart, they're mostly cheap crap http://www.paleodirect.com/fakechinesefossils1.htm
...really, really wants to mount a smaller one of these on my truck. Tailgaters would never be a problem again.
Brakes, on the other hand, would probably need to be replaced daily.
Yeah, so Java's the SUV of languages. No argument there. We've got a big contingent of (Swing) Java developers in the company I work for (MCI... rub it in). It takes them months... years even to put out updates to existing programs.
I, on the other hand (I'm gonna get flamed for this, I just know it) have been using QBasic to build scripts and basic programs and have been accomplishing the same thing in only hours or days.
Yeah, it's antiquated. Yeah, it's sluggish and akward. But it's free and works on the limited machines the company allows us to use.
So, if I were to continue the analogy, QB would be the Vespa of languages; it's slow, doesn't have many upgrade options, doesn't have a big following, and ultra-economical... but it'll do exactly what you tell it to and hardly complains about it.
It's about time Macs were brought into the fray of malicious software. As a Mac Fanboy, I'm tired of feeling left out.

What does it matter who gets to vote? The only thing that matters is who gets to count the votes.

Don't worry, Microsoft will make sure that a fully-functional version is included on a small percentage of Zunes.
