    Yeah. I loved caddies. Only problem was they charged $10 each for them.

    I really don't understand why we went to bare disk formats. I guess people thought CD's were more durable than magnetic discs. I guess they are, but I never had to worry about how I picked up a 3.5" floppy.

    Yeah. Anyone who likes HD-DVD is a jerk. BD is obviously better technically, but like everything else, Sony is going to fuck it up, trying to get the whole market for itself, that it'll again corner the market in a data format nobody uses.

    I can't be the only person not buying a Blu-Ray player because it's $1000, and the PS3 is coming out for $600 which plays the movies and games.

    Yes, while we're at it, let's add a captcha about quantum physics. The idea of a captcha is to keep bots out, and get people in with little hassle.

    According to quantum physics, until you look at the messages, the bot is neither in nor out.

    I would think they would just include this because it will work on almost every TV. Every TV that has a HDMI input probably also has a composite input. Almost every TV has a composite input, and even if it doesn't, any VCR will have it.

    It does make things nicer to people who just want to open the box and use it. There are only going to be a minimum of cables to look at, one power cable, one video cable.

    Besides, then they can sell you an HDMI cable.

    Modules are still part of the kernel. Despite the fact they are optional, once the module is loaded, it becomes part of the kernel.

    there's nothing wrong with shipping a kernel and a firewall on the same disk, but the firewall shouldn't be in the kernel!

    The firewall is in the linux kernel.

    If the product has the Plays for Sure logo on it, you can be sure (HA! See, I did it too!) that your DRM files WILL PLAY on that device with no problems.

    Unless, of course, you happened to buy your DRM files in the most common (by far) format.

    It's probably an artifact of the language used in chemistry. A completed synthesis, if it reproduces a natural chemical, or even a different chemical modeled after a natural one, is called a "natural product synthesis."

    In fact, my specific research area is "total synthesis of natural products." I am currently making apoptolidinone, which does not occur naturally, but is related to apoptolidin, which does.
