they quit at 5 because they usually start their day before you even think about getting up. Construction guys I know usually are on the road at 4 or 5 to get to where they need to be for work to start at 6... working till 5 gives you about 11 hours and you might as well budget in not taking lunch every other day. Construction workers are just like you and me... who wants to work a night shift when you got kids and other things going on at home during the evening. Also I believe there is an added cost with working at night... I believe it requires lighting equipment and energy to run that equipment.

At first I didn't mind the phone companies ( when I was 15 - 18 ) but now that I am older and wiser ( 19 - 25 ) I really think they suck... notice how that works when I have to start paying my own bills!

  5. Phone companies playing god on Regional Bells Blocking Broadband Competition · · Score: 5, Informative

We have this problem in my hometown ( or something similiar ). 2 different companies wanted to come in and stick a big antenna on top of our water tower and provide wireless broadband connections to everyone within reach. Only problem is that they had to get their high speed connection through the local phone company (TDS) and it turned out that the company had plans to bring DSL into the area in a year or so, so they drug their feet and eventually it never materialized... twice! two different companies denied. Now we get their high priced slow ass DSL and all towns around our area with different phone providers have the wireless available. Its completely retarded.

  6. A word of caution on Dell Offers FreeDOS With New PCs · · Score: 1

I purchased one of these N series systems from Dell because we had an available copy of windows at the office I was working in. The box show'd up with no drivers of any type packaged along with it. If you plan on putting windows on the system... make sure you have another system available with a cdr or zip or winrar + lots of floppies.
