Schools need to start teaching security. Just the idea and what you do. Kids will go home and teach thier parents. And slowly more people will become educated. How else can you educate the masses?
Here's an idea to help block spam from these. Don't accept any mail from a block of IPs for residential use. Like all of comcasts home subscribers. Same for ameritech, Road Runner and all those other residential networks. They are under a license agreement to not run a mail server anyway.
I admitt it would be an inconvienamce because I run a mail server like that but it might be worth the pain for less spam.
With the increase in living style in China it wouldn't suprise me soon. There are many cell phones and computers poping up all over the place. Why not ipods? Maybe not this year but in the next couple I could see them selling decently. If a half percent of the population buys then then that's more than 5 million of them sold.
Why does Apple insist on calling iTunes/Pod the "World's Best Digital Music Experience"?
It's called marketing. They are using "buzz" words to attract the attention of more people. the jist is that more people intrested drives up sales, then they make more money.
iTunes store may not be accessible but there are over 1 billion people there and iTunes syncs with the ipod so imagine how many ipods they could sell there.
as they were talking the rules of thirds i realized that a womans breasts are about 1/3 the way down from the top. that's why we guys are always looking and attracted to them so much. it's not our fault. it's just nature
Let your friends stream all their sound to you, rip it from the source, tear it apart and create a legal song archive. No, no profit here;)
If they are my friend why not give them a special ftp account or web access to do so. Or why not burn them to cd or dvd and give them that. Seems to much easier and they get the songs they want
Then look at it from a security standpoint. Because it's your home and church you need to have the security because of liability. What if someone searches for kiddie porn, or shares music and the RIAA comes after you or a million other things.
If the US at least if its yours then you are liable. That's why those places that offer it free have an agreement first.
The one noted difference between the previous post about this and this one is that before it was being taken to W3C and now it is being done outside W3C.
But what about those who are just venturing into the Linux world and are just getting thier feet wet. There are a lot of those and they don't understand it all yet.
What if something comes up in the mean time?
/.ed too.

Building something like this could be a really cool high school science project.
Why is this kind of delayed lawsuits even permitted?
It's simple. They are allowed because they make lawyers and the court system a lot of money.
If you have blue tooth on your pc and a blue tooth phone or other device you can control the songs via remote.

These seems similar to the system all those porn systems used to get such a high rank in google.
Kind playing the system with the content not being quite as desirable.

not quite. Are they running OS X with iTunes? Nope, it'll be a M$ based system with iTunes as a 3rd party software. That is the difference.

It would suck your upstream bandwith. You'd have to have a super fast conection to really stream just like any other streaming service.

The lawyers who manipulate this system of constant appeals.

Looks like W3C rejected this.
So, if /. has these adds too (which they do) should we boycott /. too? As I am typing this I am reading a M$ ad on the submit page.

Since only legal users of XP can install the updates, does this mean that all those people using illegal copies can't get the update?
Figuring so, a lot of people could get screwed.
assembly is machine language. it is not compiled. it's different for pretty much every chip.

Real men use Assembly. They should code it in assembly.
