    as reported on ./ get a solid state hard drive. they are pricy now but will probubally be less expensive before this linux system is all together, smooth and getting popular.

    One of these with your G5 and your set to go.

    This would be hard to get many of the professionals to do with the Apple or Mac compatible products out there

    This market has a lot of mac die harders, proven products and support. Plus, a lot of it can be done right on a powerbook.

    I see this project having a difficult time making a dent. It will need to become better than existing products and get some great support and PR.

    This is really good... But wouldn't it be better if there was a Gimp plug-in to add vectorial drawing support?

    An integrated enviornment would be nice but with all of the other features to be added to gimp is it practical to add this to the list.

    this could definitly be a nice new toy to have. I like using photoshop and gimp for my projects but to have them retain their charactistics like in their example of a triange would be a great help for some of the projects I am working on.

    The murder rate will sky rocket because

    1) Wives will just get tired of thier husbands if they have to live together that long and vice versa.

    2)If people won't just die on their own then someone will end up killing them. Right now, we at least have the feeling that some peopel will just die someday.

    3)If you have my neighbors for that long of a time you might kill them too.

    Also, don't forget that even though judges are supposed to be unbiased they all have their own agendas. If you take that to enough courts/appeals they can find one judge to support it.

    Apple's already taken care of this for you. It's called iTunes. If they switch to a digital only distribution method such as iTunes, then they can control how many times you can burn that particular album as it was meant to be heard by the artist. Of course, you can always copy the newly burnt disc, but that will be true of *any* copy protection that is backwards compatible with the redbook standard.

    They have created a way to allow a playlist to be burned only so many times. You can create a new playlist with the same songs and keep on burning.

    The US patent office is becoming as bad as the US legal system that allows you to sue anyone at any time for any reason. *shakes head in disgust*

    Well, it's lawyers who file and handle the patents and lawyers that fight the patents. Maybe they are just setting themselves up for more business.

    McAfee is only patenting this as a defensive move. They would only use it if someone tried to attack them with another patent. They would never use it to try and derail competitors or shut-out or steal ideas from the small newcomer that tried to enter the market.

    Will they just use it for defense? Maybe to start but what happens if their product sucks and doesn't sell. Then they could attack the competition with it.

    They got the patent which means lots of lawyers fees to straighten it out. So, the question is...who is going to stop them?

    It probubally won't be an open source system. Needs to be someone with lots-o-money.

    No, I was talking about hardware failures because of power problems. Where I went to college and where I wonk now we have a problem with hardware breaking from power failures.
