There is a lot that is not being said. Such as, did CIT cooperate? Did they obviously stall or with hold information? Did they claim to not have records they obviously had? This is not the whole story and maybe the only alternative to getting the information was to take the equipment. Maybe CIT gave them no alternative. We are speculating based on one sides point of view.

I bet there is more to the story than we are hearing. There was a search warrent from the "United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio"
To get a search warrent you have to have something to go on already.
if CIT might have been uncooperative. This article is very one sided and if it was taking hours and they weren't seeing it get anywhere then there might have been a legitimate problem. I don't know if taking the servers was the best solution but if they did it then there must have been something going on.
i use pico when i am tired cause i don't have to remember any of those pesky vi commands. plus, all that drinking in college kinda killed my memory so pico is easier to remember. wait, what was i talking about.
I am a *nix admin and I have several friends that are OS X users that want to take advantage of the terminal/BSD side of the operating system. I am going to recommend this to all of them.

"Every couple months it's "Can Google stay ahead of new competitor x?" And so far, everytime, the answer has been yes. People shift from search engines quickly when they no longer work, and people are still heading to Google."
This is because no one has created a significant advancement in searches and marketed it well. If that happens watch out Google.
"Almost everything that comes up on the first page for most things I search for is a referral program selling either something I'm looking for information about, or selling something completely different."
So, wait. All those products won't really make me bigger down there. Way to ruin my day.
The only worry would be if Google goes public and then shortly there after someone develops a new way to search that's better and Google looses a bunch of market share. Then the stock would go down quick. This is now a high stakes game.
Google uses pagelink to rank pages for their searching. This may be teir downfall. The porn and ad agencies have found out how to take advantage of this. I would say that unless Goole finds a new way to rank/sort that someone else will come up with one that filters out the crap and take Googles market share.
A disgruntled worker what??? Never... in my life have I met a disgruntled tech support rep. Oh, wait. I forgot. I mean never in my life have I ever met a NONdisgruntled tech support worker. I did it for 3 years. omg, to handle the stress and anger 90% of the workers smoked.
I worked at another ISP with similar problems. We were Voyager.net and then merged to Corecomm. After the merger it was no longer fun to work there. In turn a lot of good people left. There was a general lack of caring. In general there were more call backs, less satisfied customers and longer times on the phones overall.
It actually proved to be more costly to have a cheap work enviornment that wasn't a fun place to work.
There are burn out and high turn over rates at tech support centers. Recieving those calls all day is draining (I did it). The average time someone does tech support is like 9 months. That is no a whole lot of experience. So, those on the other end usually don't have a lot of experience doing tech support.
WHo really wants to track me. I wake up, go to work, go to the bathroom, back to my desk, eat lunch, back to the bathroom, back to my desk, go home, sit in front of my computer and tv all night. Who wants to track that? Hell, I don't even want to track that.
I wonder if they can give the detail of Grand Theft auto. They I could play dropped down in Iraq going after Sadam and Bin Laden. I could steal a tank and run them over. Maybe get some Iraq hookers. Grand Theft Auto Iraq.
I wonder if they will simulate in extreme detail. Like all the nude beaches in Europe or the Playboy mansion. If terrorists attack the Playboy Mansion during a party they have to know how to handle that. If so, I wonder if they are taking resumes.

what about their reputation for having illegal or compromising people using thier service. That reputation alone may be worse than the downtime.

There is an article here that tells that equipment is already being returned.

when a country song is written about not only loosing the girl, house, truck and dog but the whole damn planet.
"you'ld think; just in 1908 what was probably a comet"
That was almost a million hours ago. That is a lot of time in between strikes.
Will the MADMEN be good enough to stop say.... The moon gets hit by an asteroid knocking it off course and towards the earth.
So, maybe I played too much pool as a kid.

"US == Warmonger"
Is there anything wrong with being a warmonger? I would if I could but I can't so I won't.

This may a little off subject but why does the BBC report first about the US Militarys earth simulator?

Imagine a beowolf cluster of these. The supply closet could be the most power computing system in a company.
"How much you can overclock a pen. I guess it depends on how hot it runs.
If it gets to hot I wouldn't want that pen in my front pants pocket.
Can I also get a pocket protector that acts as a firewall to prevent my pens in my pocket from getting hacked?
