Is the UN really much of a controlling body anymore. The more time goes on the more it is shown to be ineffective. Does anyone really listen to them anymore?
I wouldn't suprise me if they went with apple just to get away from M$ dominance. M$ has twisted so many arms at HP, Dell and the likes over the years I can understand why they would stay away from M$ if they have the chance. What company wants their arm constantly twisted?
"Much time is spent teaching people how to write code but never really reading it. This is a perfect example of how to do it and why you would."
Reading code can be a huge help in becomeing a better coder. You see how other coders do things. Learning from their bad on what not to do and seeing new good methods you may not have come up with on your own.
I wonder how many guitarists will take to this since to them it is such and art and about what they hear. Can a computer really tune to the level that they can hear it needs to be tuned to for them?
"Do you really want 1000 IBM staff to be laid off because of a single hard drive model?"
Those 1000 IBMers shouldn't have too much to worry about. Whether they fixed it or not they would either go on to the next project or be laid of anyway when that project was over. Obviously they didn't fix it. I just hope they learned a lesson about reliabality from this.
Don't we build cheaper things that are less reliable so that you have to buy new ones more often. Many industries already do that. They can make a light bulb that goes for 10 or 20 years no problem. And I can buy one that is garunteed to go for 5 years. But there are still ones that have 2500 hours. This concept isn't something new.
Will they stick to the punishment. So many things don't these days. I caused a car accident totally not only my car but the other guys car out. It was ugly and obviously totaled. I got a ticket but I ended up with no opints and $145 USD in fines. That's it. My car was totally covered so I just got a new one and went on my merry way. Kids in schools are not even taught punishment anymore. They are taught to have their energy redirected. Will they be able to hold to a punishment??? I hope so but have major doubts.
Even console games have changed a lot over the years. Kids today won't even play the old console games. I have an old nintendo and my cousins who are teens and preteens thought the controller was archaic. They won't even look at the game. They couldn't handle the lack of buttons and things they could do. So, it's the direction video games have gone.
I love those old school arcade games too. I was in a bar a couple weeks ago and they had a couple old school games. They were packed all night with people playing them. I too have been to Dave and Busters and the games have changed so much.
The roller rinks i used to skate at and play video games as a kid are no longer around. I looked like a year ago and there was 1 and it was an hour and a half drive. There are less bowling alleys. They have torn down 2 near my home in the last 2 years. Those places where we used to go play those games are not around anymore. People aren't going out bowling as much anymore. The decline of these other industries has led to the fall of some of the arcade games.
I dunno if this is complete true. That nude find the difference in the picture game in almost every bar is packed all night. is that considered an arcade game?
Red Hat isn't shrinking. It's not growing at the same rate but it's still growing. It's overall market dominace is shrinking but it's still growing. It's no longer the M$ of linux.
Wonder if I could hack the wireless connection to another persons pens at their desk.
"Is the UN much of a controlling body anymore? Not while it's being abused and misused by US policymakers."
Lets be honest. It isn't just being misused by US policymakers. There are many other countries misusing it too.
Is the UN really much of a controlling body anymore. The more time goes on the more it is shown to be ineffective. Does anyone really listen to them anymore?
"And of course the US always follows what the UN asks it to do..."
A better thing is will the rest of the world just laugh at a bought M$ standard and ignore it while people in the US actually try to implement it.
This may prove to show an even bigger problem with the UN. That it can be bought. M$ has the money to do it too.
I wonder if there are any provisions or controls over the UN to prevent this.
"...influence the USA standards..."
The UN isn't just USA but the United Nations made up of well over 100 countries. Much bigger field to influence.
So, if I get an email from France is can smell like France. Can we get some kind of smell filter like a spam filter?

wait, every time i sit down in from of my M$ windows machince i ask, why windows?

"This is not for your average guy who plucks a bit on the weekends."
Would a professional want a computer tuning his guitar for him, or would he be so paticular that he would want to do it himself?
"I would much prefer the DRIVERS become self tuning. And I'm talking about both the meat and the software kind."
Someone gonna hop on that patent?

"...you have to transfer all the data over to the new one... which is a royal pain in the arse..."
I hate to point this out but should should do the whole backup thing. I mean even a high reliability HD occasionally fails.

actually for the type of car (much nicer and newer) my insureance increased very little. i was really suprised.

" I hope the EU also forces Apple to bundle Real with MacOSX as well..."
Don't do that. No one should be forced to have Real on their system. Don't punish the users.
Can the EU stand up to M$ or will the big bad wolf blow their house down.
