I occasionally used Vivisimo's search engine years ago (I don't know if it had any association with Overture at the time).
It would take the search results and place them in categorized folders so that you could narrow down the search. Naturally, they picked the categories.
I suppose some filtering would be nice, but do I really need them to do something I should have done when I came up with my search parameters in the first place?
is it meeting people or personas and avatars and online handles? i am untrusting enough to always wonder at least a little how much of what comes through is pure fiction.

What about the book Introduction to Linux by Machtelt Garrels? I just found it on tldp and it starts out with a brief history of Linux, goes on to explain what you need to consider before installing, etc. Chapter 2 starts with how to log on. Seems like just the thing for a newbie.

Have you looked into fastmail? The domain email hosting isn't free, but they do offer IMAP.

I like the Sheaffer Award. It's a low end model with a steel nib, but it has a nice rubberized grip.
