    Two other reasons.

    Maybe they are against FOSS for one reason or other and is just using this as an excuse.

    Maybe they are just filling in the box on the survey without too much concerns for accuracy or maybe deliberately making silly statements. I do that all the time.

    By the way next time you fill out questionaires that has your e-mail tell them you work for the press. Lots's of interesting offers comes your way.

    No. It is a belief that there is no god. This is the most logical belief and the hypothesis you must chose if you adhere to Occam's Razor.

    We get to learn about:

    - Contract Law

    - Licensing, notably GPL

    - State of the Art media manipulation

    - Insights into the stock market and hopefully SEC

    - International Law. Notably Australia and Germany

    - Criminal Law like Mail-fraud

    - History of Unix

    You forget one point. That is that potential payoff and potential cost of trying to get it has to have some sort of relation.

    Now take the Insurance idea.

    They can leave open the ability to finance the legal defense but cap the potential coverage. Now if you are faced with an insurance company footing the legal bill and only a possible $1000 judgement coverage what are you going to do.

    Leave the people alone. Any award over say $1000 has to come out of the persons pocket, ie the Student or 12 year girl declares bankrupcy. Case closed, RIAA lost all the legal expenses.

    Reference was made to using their capitalization as a means of acquisition

    This is not possible with the exception of companies already owned by the Canopy group.

    Any company has a fiduciary duty to their stockholders even privately owned.

    Any company that accepted this POS (Not Point of Purchase) will open themselves to lawsuit. Any Due diligence will not pass muster.

    There is nothing for the acuired company to be gained. The shares can not be sold, their non Legal business has all but disapeared so no synergy and the like can be had, Nothing as far as I can see.

    FYI, I had to comment here a few weeks ago about an article by Bill O'Reilly claming that we were at WW3 and our actions should reflect a war effort

    Just out of curiosity I analyses the casuaties / hour of WW2. Here is the result

    First calling this WW3 is an insult to the two first WW's. With 40Mill killed in WW2 this equates to 27.000/ day or ten times the 9/11 Every day. Now if the 9/11 lasted say 2.5 hours then the NY carnage only reached the WW3 intensity while it lasted. Ie for 150 minutes. Not 24/7/365 four years running.

    Put's it in perspective doesn't it?

    I used that very same argument when my colleges lamented the shooting death of the 9 year old here the other day but here 5 year old brother.
