MY POSTING brought about a long series of conversational topics - yet, in the end, i get called a troll by a moderator - I don't understand - the moderators should have a slightly more depictive reason for the posters...

Very informative - I must add though, that this does add a seemingly unaccounted for anamoly to the colleges, universities, corporatiions, etc. that are pushing for iTunes. After all, most of these places have their own internal network - which would result in hundreds upon thousands of songs being freely available at a finger's touch. ;-)

Honestly now, how long will it be before someone cracks the encryption key and figures out how to record the HDTV films as easily as before?

All this is doing is hurt the honest consumer - by forcing them to upgrade their equipment when their old stuff dies. And in upgrading, they'll lose access to all of their previously owned movies on VHS - does anyone else see this as stepping on the rights of the consumer to continue to use their 'license' to view their shows they've bought?

I had just got done discussing this with a friend at class tonight too. After I explained it to him - yeah, we both kinda looked at each other and went REALLY?. A billion songs for a billion dollars? - Not even Mc Donald's is stupid enough to pay for that many songs - over half of which wouldn't even get redeemed...

Pity though really - this is phenomenal advertising for i-Tunes & a great business proposition for McDonald's - they should really look into it - but maybe not at a billion songs or so (that's a lot of music!)

So, to pay $30 for a pop-up stopper that's already incorporated in another prog you bought? - I'd say is ludicrous...

But, to pay for a prog at all - when you can go Open-Source and get better results is just as insane...

I use M$ for school (VS.net) - and games. Other than that I would use Linux exclusively!

Yes, I do understand where you're coming from.

However, I am mostly attacking the ideologies of telemarketing/spamming.

Telemarketing is a hindrance to the consumer - it requires the user to pay for the telephone use - and it invades upon their personal time - at the company's discretion.

Spam is but little better - this utilizes the consumer's bandwidth - and on dial-ups - takes forever! (Consequently their time as well.)

Mass mailing? - I can tolerate. Mass mailing does not drastically affect a consumer - and it allows them the ability to quickly, quietly, and leisurely explore the mail/sort the mail.

As far as your theatre group - personally, I support theatres (and the rest of the arts). I would strongly suggest some flyers in public places. Maybe a select mailing to your previous attendees. Or, even a commercial?

I do sympathize with your thoughts. And was hasty in my posting pertaining to "I'll come to you to find out what you have to offer."

But, I do ascertain that telemarketing is horrific in their tactics!

If we have a DNC list - and someone breaks that list - I believe the FCC, in the best interest of citizens abroad, should fine that company.

Yes - I believe in Freedom of Speech - but, I also believe that I have the freedom to be left alone and not terrorized by companies. I also believe that if I ask you not to bother me - a restraining order - and you break that order, then you should be fined/jailed.

Or, you can do like I do - just don't give out your email address online (and shun those sites which propagate SPAM lists) - and secondly, delete all incoming spam immediatelly. After this policy is in full effect you can expect to see a drastic drop in your number of spams a day. (Mine has dropped from 20+ to around 6). Remember - many spams now incorporate html (allowing them to better track usage and stats) - so, even if you 'preview' the email - then you're hooked up for more.
