Yes, I do believe Real wouldn't sue them. If Apple *broke* Real's DRM, then they might have an issue, but that's not what Real did, even though everyone seems to think that.
"Glaser is a hippocrite for wanting to steal Apple's IP but not wanting Apple to steal theirs."
You might not be a fanboy, but you're completely ignorant of the facts. Educate yourself before spouting off about Real stealing Apple's IP... nothing of the sort happened.
He says that he'd be happy to discuss licensing, but he doesn't say "... or else we'll DMCA their asses." which is what you're implying.
Why not sell in odd or MP3? Because they want to work with labels and have as much music as possible to offer, something that (at the moment) requires DRM because of the labels' demands.
The more things that are controlled by software in the world (warships, hospital equipment, critical infrastructure, etc.) the greater chance there is of software killing someone.
However, anyone who uses and relys on software to keep someone alive, or keep something from killing someone should not be waiting for the latest IE patch to make sure their shit works.
"Apple has gone to great lengths to not actively associate the Apple name with iTMS, iTunes and iPod. "
What are you talking about? They even call the clickwheel the "Apple Click Wheel" The HP iPod is called the "Apple iPod by HP" or something to that affect. There are massive Apple logos all over the products.
There is no less "Appleness" about the iPod than any Mac they sell, and they are far from "taking great lengths to get those products to stand on their own" Every iPod commercial ends with a huge freakin' Apple logo.
I know that was the intent of the comment, it jus struck me as funny.
I looked up the patent examiner pay grades, a person with a 4yr degree and 2 years of professional experience will start out at about $50k... not a whole lot, but not too bad.
Plus it's a job with the federal gov, so the benefits are good and your job security is great.
"4. I can't DL the content of RealMedia, like I can with mpeg or quickTime.
This is still true, of course."
this is just not true. The downloadability of the content is 100% in the hands of the person making it. There is no technological reason that you can't, it's simply an option that has been given to the content providers, who (unfortunately) take advantage of it quite a bit
If you're a radiohead fan, are you really going to wait months for their already-released albums to be available online? I don't get it when people complain about artists they like not being sold, if you're a fan, you already have the albums.
A lot of new bikes seem to use the same ECU/MAP/Injection system that cars do, making them simpler by virtue of fewer parts, but not electronically much simpler.
There are way more resources to deal with Office problems than OO problems. You can hire an Office trainer or expert for cheap, or find good books, etc. OO is going to be more expensive to support. Good software doesn't mean support-free software. It just changes the support from "word keeps crashing" to "I don't know how to use this." And if anyone argues that OO is transparent and anyone who uses Office can figure it out, you haven't worked with real users.

No. Next question.
I just wish there was more content in HD right now. It's pretty sad how little there is, but those 5 channels sure are nice.

They're doing a horrible job... give them more money, that'll show 'em!@#

keyword based advertising provides some great irony sometimes.

I'd rather have charts from the people that brought be Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, NKOTB, Color me Badd, and Kenny G. Horse. Dead. Beaten.
Since when do you need a "special partition" for use with the iPod?
But we can't build anything there, they're soverign countries and we don't have any bases inside... oh, I see where you're going with this.
cowboy neal makes my face so oily?
I believe the words you are looking for are: simple, clean, fast, appropriate interface.
I'm sure a jury will have no problem finding you guilty.
The problem hear is that spell check would not have caught there error. Your right, though, its annoying.
No argument from me on that, I just don't think it was bought because it was the cheapest DVD player out there.
I have a hard time believing that the PS2 was the *cheapest* DVD player in Japan when it was far from the cheapest even here in the US.

ATRAC3 has been around since 2000, and ATRAC since long before that, I don't see what it has to do with the Xbox.

No, Real's format is actually the same as Apple's (AAC) and they are simply converting their DRM, without touching the iPod's firmware at all.
