Some of the episodes were pretty big iirc, so that's around 2 episodes per second, 24/7, which is about 5.2M episodes a month, which seems pretty reasonable.
"If there's anything that's going to kill the iPod it'll be its lack of Ogg Vorbis support..."
Awww, you're so cute. *pat on the head*
No one cares about Ogg Vorbis. If I asked 90% of my friends "Hey, do you want Ogg Vorbis support on your iPod?", they would think it was some industrial band.
The idea that Ogg support matters at all in the general market is laughable. No. One. Cares. It seems to have done pretty well without Ogg, and that won't change.
Apple does not have a history of shutting down stories on rumor sites. They will typically only complain if there are screenshots of photographs, and C&D the site to get them taken down. Text is almost never C&D'd
Re-writing can happen today, the patch might not. I think it's pretty obvious that the best way to prevent it is to re-write your apps, maybe while you're in there re-writing them you can choose a better platform:)
Seriously though, until MS issues a patch, telling people to change their code makes the most sense. There isn't another option except to wait for MS to get its poop in order... which could take a little while. It sucks, but what else are they going to tell people? You can wait for the patch and be insecure, shut down your site, or re-write the code.
Yes, not knowing if a phone is working in Podunk, WI is the same as 10s of Millions of people dying. Excellent analogy, you broke Godwin without even putting up a fight. You lose!
That's true, you can get 2L of Coke cheaper than 1L in most cases. at 7-11, a 1L is almost always going to be $1.39 to $1.59, but there are frequent sales on 2L bottles for $.99 at grocery stores.
Odd, but true. Mostly due to distribution costs I'm sure.
I have a hard time believing that juice is ever less than bottled water. You can not buy 1L of juice for 99.
I have yet to see bottled water for more than soda. Generally soda is $1.29 for 20oz, water is.99, $1.59 for a 1L soda bottle, and $1.29 for water. If anything it's the same, I have not seen it ever cost more.
Those prices are for Dasani/Aquafina, Evian and the other froo froo brands might be more.
I don't know anything about Mr. Lord's product, but I do know he sounds like a 12 year old boy when he writes. People might respect you and your work more if you use the word "blows" a little less, and spend less time lashing out at other products with such ferocity.
I agree with you on almost all points except the car thing. More and more tradtionally analog or mechanical parts are being replaced with software and electronic parts. These parts can fail just as frequently as their older counterparts (heh) and are freqently more expensive to replace. I guarantee my 1956 Ford's distributer car is less costly to replace than the coil packs on a newer VW that tend to fry themselves frequently.
Overall I don't think the cost of car ownership has gone down significantly, cars are still expensive to fix, and they still break. They've just found newer more expensive ways to fail. For every few 100k mile accords from 2000 there's a grandma driving a 300k mile Ford from the 60s.
Rob now has a younger, blonder girlfriend. I've met them both and sat next to them at a Mariner's game once, no black eyes and she appears to be very nice.

Personally, I'd rather have bad luck and no bird shit on my head (or satellites in my house)

Because within a month, the API for downloading the virus defs will get hacked, and begin downloading the viruses themselves! ;)
And then there would be rash of deaths in Redmond from irony poisoning.
(Highschool chem education in full effect, please correct me if I'm wrong)
At 25 times the size of the goodyear blimp I think finding it will be the easy part. avoiding it, however, might be harder.
I don't see why OFDM is getting treated like some new tech holy grail. 802.11a and g both use it, and have for a very long time.

Apple I computers typically sell for more than $12k. It's not "an early Mac", it's an Apple I.

They could have resized the Dock, or hid it. I think the CPU speed would have been interesting to see.
I really wonder if the first accident that results in a fatality will throw water on this recent excitement. I hope not.

I wonder how many people on /. played Pathways into Darkness... that was such a great game.
Haliburton found them and resold them to someone... probably Israel.

Grapevine... right, I understand.
"and have aural sex with box turtles!" Aural, you say?... I always thought turtles were very quiet.
Yeah, I've never seen a PC that has its insides all done up to look cool. What a waste of time!
That's not the point. The term "digital music player" as used in this article and analysis does not include walkman style CD players.
You know that's not what the article is about. A CD player that plays MP3s does not fall under the "digital music player" umbrella.
