Yeah I saw this trick in the Mensa rag we get every month I was impressed until a few days later I read about the ads in Cambridge, Mass.
Now there going after the linux top's so it's looking like a publicity stunt for there IPO
Let's hire or look like we are hiring the top people (of which I'm probably not one) inflate the price of stock who knows.
I wish them luck what ever they are trying to do. (for now)
Installing a home PC with distro de'jur and then using it to read about all the things you don't think you can do anymore because the tools are unfamiliar then learning the tools to accomplish the same things you use to do with a M$ box is a very good way to learn. But then it doesn't sound like this guy has a few years to get up to speed. As I've see from paperer MCS* if you don't follow-up with a full time use of any OS then your just end up with a cert and no skills then end up back at berger flippen or what ever. I recommend Start by tossing out your Windoughs box completely at home (or at least unplugging it and hiding it) and if you can get away with it at work get a second box and using it for everything you can! and then loading a Linux box at home (MHO is stay away from the Fedora project) and then just picking any training that would fit you schedule to start (it will still take years for you to be any good unless you have some UNIX skills now) and focus on the comandline tool GUI's get you in trouble. if you don't understand commandline you will probably will never recover from even small probs. Then get some deprogramming help and off the M$ wagon.
Your going to learn more about Linux administration at home at your darkend desk trying to do or install something than in a book or a classroom and you will keep thous lessons in your head longer but you'll need reading material try http://www.google.com/search?q=linux&ie=UTF-8 &oe=U TF-8
I think your more right on the mark than you know!
with the market being in flux going from bad to worse and back to a lesser bad, I would have to tell clients to ditch with the first drop. what we are setup to see is another Yahoo although I think Google has a slightly better business plan. since they changed there system and algorithm the relevance of searches are going downhill on a fast train and I'm forced to use other search options and I'm sure I'm not the only one which means less traffic / income {Explode and Fall} (I called Yahoo to a few people who poo pooed me and I know one person who had to sell 3 houses to cover margins and taxes) Google will survive without stock money but will you? it was built to burn!
I run around saying "Stupid Recruiter" all the time
Most recruiters are wan'a - be investment bankers or anything other than what they are, and have very little interest in the industry they are actually recruiting for.
I've done good work for allot of good people and some good work for some not so good people.
The issues with some people is that they are looking for jobs they are not qualified for and are so ego-centric that they want to blame some one for there short-comings.
Unless this person is trying to get into the writing industry this is way to much effort.
Or this is just mental masterbation in a public forum.
It got on me via slashdot.
I hope I don't get a mentail desiese. I read this with out protection

but if you want linux to work you have to respect the GPL and the copyleft.
you shoule get a copy of the movie "The Code" and you would be supporting a good cause
Hahaha I'm laughing my ass off here!
You do have a point and I was going to recommend Debian too.
My issue with Fedora is the whole RedHat GPL thing.
I believe that they are abusing the GPL by only offering only Fedora for download but this is just MHO
you should buy the movie "The Code" to start you Life in Linux just so you know where it came from
