Great, now I have to wear a body condom to block my RFID's...
Actually, i'm glad to see companys looking at RFID in a responsible way. Hopefully between that and angry consumers, this can be a usefull technology without being a privacy hazard.
Couldn't you just write a virus to infect a user, then recreate a new version of the virus with some random buffer instructions added randomly in the code that doesn't effect the output... push ebx mov(eax, ebx) mov(ebx, eax)pop etc. Then distrubute it and do the same thing?
well, i would of called it something else

You guys can come up with the rest. This has to be the most stupid thing I have ever read. And that includes my own posts.
When I'm troubleshooting problems for my family. I like to just head on over to best buy and buy whatever I think is bad, then I can install it, and test it, if it really is bad, then I can ask them if they want me to order the part cheaper and wait, or use the overpriced crap. If its not bad, then I just take it back to best buy and say it doesn't perform to my expectations, and get a full refund.
Then I wont want more then 2 seconds to place that order for the 3 panel lcd.
That should read: Then I wont wait more then 2 seconds to place that order for the 3 panel lcd.
Please auto correct all spelling errors in your head:-p
I've been eyeing this 3 panel LCD display for a while. I would buy it, but i'm a gamer at heart and I just can't give up my 9800 pro just to have 3 monitors. I'm hoping that when PCI-express comes out that matrox will step up the the plate and put out a good quality 3d card that handles dx9 and opengl. Then I wont want more then 2 seconds to place that order for the 3 panel lcd.
This is what I love about linux. If you dont like the way something is done, do it yourself or find another way. The linux distro's are learning they dont need to be locked into anything. They can do what they want (with-in the limits of the GPL) This is a good thing.
I dont see whats the big deal, issues like this can create new tech, and spark new creative ideas in the community.
"True diversity, Charney said, would require thousands of different operating systems, which would make integrating computer systems and networks virtually impossible."
What he should of said: True diversity, would require thousands of different operating systems, which we would do our best by making our own "Standards" to make integrating the computer systems and networks virtually impossible.
Oh thats not always true. I bought items from a guy I worked with, in front of my boss. Turned out 6 weeks later the boss found out he was stealing them. I imediatly called the police and explained I had bought items from him and did not know they were stolen. Their response was to charge me with accessory, because in my state, having stolen property is the same as stealing it, even if you do not know its stolen. I had to do 200 hours community service, and lost the items, and the case in civil court to get my money back.
"The leaked code includes 30,915 files and was apparently removed from a Linux computer used by Mainsoft for development purposes. Dated July 25, 2000, the source code represents Windows 2000 Service Pack 1."
Even microsoft's security problems are because of a linux computer....yea sure...
In my company we send all outside electronic documents in PDF format. I've never seen a PDF not look like exactly what I made it to be. I've used viewers on windows and linux, it always looks just like I intended.
Office is good for printed documents, but turn that.doc into a.pdf before you send it out to the clients.
After wich point of growing life is worth saving ? When its me.
After wich point is if unethical to commit abortion ? When its not benificial to me.
Do we have something like a "soul" ? Ok, you got me there.
Whats the meaning of life ? To die with the most toys of course!
Btw I'm joking.
My personal belief is that stem cell research has way more benifts then negitives. We need to understand that beleif structures are just that, beleifs and we shouldn't be holding up other people who dont share thoses beleifs just because we can't handle the fact they are doing something which in no way effects us.
If a herioin crack head hooker with aids is pregnant, do you really want her to have that baby?
In any case, it is human nature to protect the weak. But isn't the law of nature survivial of the fitest? I belive that our race helps the weak strive more then the strong and creates a weaker culture. But at the same time, I wouldn't mind a new pair of eyes, or the ablity to grow a new heart when i've gorged myself on fatty meats for years. So what do I know.
If music/software buisness wants their products to expire like milk. Let them get into the dairy buisness.
I dont want my CD to expire. I dont want my computer to tell me, its master what I can or can't do. This is why I am a programmer, this is why I built my computer. If I wanted to be locked out and have no control, I would of bought a compaq and used aol.
Some users need their computer to tell them what to do (or not to do) . For everyone else, there's Linux.
Maybe they could use that money to lower my cable/internet bill isntead of the buy out fails.
Or they could up my upstream bandwith, mmm bandwith......
I would rather that then a mouse on crack.
Dont forget, unlike real life, when you hear a pin pop, rush them and shot them down. This works well on indoor maps. When they die, the cooked gernade, if not throw wont explode:-)
This is exactly the problem I have. I spend a lot of time reading books on programming. I have a good background in a lot of languages, but the problem i'm having is I lack projects to work on. Sure i get little webpage script requests from friends, or a regex for some text file parsing, or maybe even a small app to do something mildly amusing. But I lack real world projects to perfect my skills on. My last job had a lot of projects, i worked on our software, on our reports, and on our support center tracking software (which i had to write by hand), but now that i'm diving into assembly and trying to get better at c and c++ i'm finding myself at a loss of what to do. What I would like to see is a book that tests you with challeges for the learning programer, then a chapter going over how the author would of solved this problem and why, with a CD containing all the source material to approch the problem, and possibly the solution program.
Anyone know of something like this out there?
My job before my current job, I was able to modify my contract to state I had the rights to any software I created on my own time. I also had provisions stating that my own time was basically time when I was not working in the office (I had my lawyer put this in because I was salary and technically on the clock 24 hours a day). It was hard to push the the changes though, but being 1 of 3 people who knew how their software worked made it easy. My current job is with a huge corp. I am no longer a programmer so I didn't have to sign anything like that. I did have to sign a agreeement not to work at any other jobs that might hurt my job proformance for them. Im not sure what that means, but it hasn't stoped me from doing my small side jobs setting up new hardware and lans / small webscripting jobs for local buisness. None of this hurts my job proformance for them, as i'm never late and always at the top of the group. Its also not a competing buisness, so i'm not worried there.
As said above, get yourself a lawyer. Hell, even if you weren't taking this job, you should always have a lawyer you can keep on retainer or at least a number in your wallet.

When will the goverment learn that our real danger comes from deep sea monsters. We need more research for sharks with freakin lasers on their heads.

What they really ment to say was: Million close republicans. No big deal, I'll just configure my spam filters to block porn and the president.

computers can be unplugged from the network and rebooted; organisms cannot. Are you so sure? Take the blue pill.

Sorry I hold a patient on first posts. Well that and XOR.
Open source may be the bane of all existance according to sco, but it appears to in this case help the job market :-p
Someone should tell Novell that. Or at least let SCO know they are getting into deep shit.
let me take a shot at this.

Thats actually a reall cool idea. I never thought of the lego thing. I might go pick me up a set tonight.
