I had a longer reply that was lost so here's the exec summary:
It is highly unlikely this device is any more accurate than so called "run of the mill gps nav systems"
the chipset that the device pictured in TFA is based on Sirf III (common in GPS nav devices)

But it may be more accurate/better reporting than other kid trackers... IIRC there was a kidtracker vs radar case that was lost because the kid tracker only reported data every 3 minutes or something like that, where-as this one "might" report every second.
briefly searched and didn't see anyone mention the bitboys.. this seems to be their focus now, after it seemed that the bitboys were to take over all graphics hardware

worth a look arround, or a search if you'd never heard of them before.
Yes, as a matter of fact you are paying for what you got. You have a service agreement with company XYZ: It says they will provide you with service ABC for the period of which you pay for it. I seriously doubt any 'service company' like this would have a provision that says 'by paying your monthly fee for the service you are getting on a monthly basis, you immediately get to reap the benefit of our company running in the black. Sorry, this is not communist russia... in communist russia (fill in the blank) Companies exist to make money, to (possibly use that capitol to roll out new services) make even more money. Unless your Provider is a Co-Op or some such thing. If your service agreement with the company you are with doesn't suit you, have fun elsewhere. The only possible arguement against this position would be that through tax breaks etc given on the condition that the company was to deploy HSI with the money saved. If the consumer realizes no benefit from that tax break then it would be valid to cry foul... But to just assume because you payed for the service you got, that you should get full access to anything they have is quite simply stupid. Just try uncapping your cablemodem and see how far that gets you.
no... I don't think mp3.com could ever dream of having as much $$ as amazon to fight any potential fight of free use. And I doubt publishers have quite as strong a group as the RIAA to act as the 800lb gorilla.
No need to worry about being an ass.
The Private individual has no requirement to take your payment of stamps.
Now if you have a debt with a govt. agency I suppose you could use stamps for that
Can't wait to see what happens with this. The replaytv 50xx series has the ability to share shows over the internet as well as being able to skip commercials automagically. Just wait till the mpaa hears about this.. oh wait, they already did. However ivs is still available on all 50xx units (removed from later version the 55xx's) Can't wait till they try to force replaytv to remove this from the current replays (this went over real well when they tried to force removal of auto commercial skipping, replaytv users sued THEM)
Multiple lasers has been done before for CDs trueX kenwood topped out at 72x IIRC. zen technologies later licensed this tech (to Infineon and Sanyo IIRC) to be used for DVD's but to my knowledge no one has come out with a trueX DVD drive.
a quick search of the gospel music place turns up this link http://www.gospelmusic.org/news/GMAil_topsto ry_07- 10-03.cfm 10 july 03 apparently they've been mailing their Gospel mail (gmail) for several years (supposedly since 1999)
A cheaper solution, if you can find it, would be the digitraveler from Radioshack. It is a clearance item and thus will be more difficult to find (there's 2 available at a store near me though, think sticks). But, if you are so lucky as to find one, it'd be only $30. There are two models, one for PC, with a db9 on it, and another for PDA's, which has 3 connectors, palm, journada, and ipaq. The other end of all these connectors is RJ12 which plugs into the GPS unit. If you're cheap, like me, you can buy the PDA one and chop one of the cables and patch it to DB9 (only 3 wires) then you have a dual use gps. more info available: http://www.grundlgasse.at/thomas/digit raveler/
Didn't know anyone did this anymore.. I figured everyone was like me and just maintained an "unattended install" disc with the lastest versions of all their favorite programs... sure ghost is quick.. but it also is quick to become dated../me wonders how many ghost users still have mirc or other older (more vulnerable) programs on their image... I'll stick with unattended installs. http://unattended.msfn.org/

perhaps when online printers offer panorama (a brief recent search shows no one does yet)then I won't bother printing anything at home....
Or consider the corsair model http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/flash_memory. html
water resistant (I recall a reviewer put it through the washer and it came out with not a drop on the contacts)
