  2. Re:Console gaming will die on Nintendo GameCube Preview · · Score: 1

The death of console gaming has been proclaimed time and time again. It's not going to happen. You can talk about specs, gf2's, and athlons all you want, but that doesnt matter. Games matter. As long as there are developers who like to work on standardized platforms, console games will continue to sell.

The psx launched in 94. Thats 6 years ago. And just the other day I saw a commercial for a psx game on tv (yes, PSX, not PS2). The reason? Console game quality evolves as developers learn the ins and outs of a system. So, games coming out for a 6 year old machine are way better than the ones that it launched with. Is that true for the PC? Will a machine I bought 6 years ago even play a game released this year? Or do I have to go shell out a couple thousand on a gf2 and athlon?

Now you tell me which is the better gaming investment.

Oh yes, IT departments do get tired of this.

You must work for a rare breed of IT department. Most IT managers tend not to think for themselves, or evaluate alternative products. "If microsoft makes a product, it must be the best, lets go buy it."

I wonder if this will always be the case, or if organizations (especially governmental, or non-profit) will stop wasting money when there are equally viable products for cheap, or free.

When I listen to dubya talk, he seems like an idiot. Plain and simple. Come January, we'll have a moron representing our nation to other nations, other leaders, other meetings, etc. He does not even have a mastery of the english language.

I think Martin Sheen said it best (and I'm paraphrasing): "he doesn't have the intellectual curiosity to be a president."

I saw this case a while ago, but A) it's $300, and B) all of your components that have the regular cream colored face (CDROM, floppy, etc) would look mighty stupid in it.

Although from the picture, it seems that dude found/made a cdrom and floppy with an aluminum face! (I suppose paint would work too) very cool.

And how about that one article a while ago that told of how he insulted a guy he was having dinner with and refused to speak with him simply because he spoke of proprietary software? (sorry, no link)
