Sorry, this is bulls... and one of the most stupid arguments of the pro-patent lobby.

Nobody stops companies to operate in multiple countries.

If company A has patent protection in country A, company B is bound to it in country A. Same vice versa. Hence, both companies have the same chances and possibilities. (Foreign companies can apply for patents in the US, you know)

Also in Country B, where sw-pats are not available, both companies have equal possibilities.

  15. Pointless on AMD's New DRM · · Score: 1

This will either be dead-slow (drivers need read-access for some graphics operations, since hardware can't accelerate everything) or moot (smells like needing a shadow frame buffer for current OS implementations). Either way, I'll give it a week before work-arounds exist.

  16. Problem for web apps on Googlebot and Document.Write · · Score: 1

Web apps these days consist nearly entirely of dynamic content invisible to googlebot. If you try to make your page visible on the web, this is really a problem. But think twice before adding invisible div's or alike in order to achieve proper seach results: Google might as well ban you (since they don't check whether or not the keywords you name in your invisible divs do in fact relate to the page's purpose or contents).

... and not only does Google ignore their complaints and fail to present *any* evidence (not to mention any IP addresses etc so that one can go and investigate himself), Google even "collects" on all accrued earnings of a certain longer period by closing down the account. (I had adserve on my private homepage for years, but payout was disabled due to relatively low earnings and high commission rates and other fees when cashing google's checks. When I launched a professional website in April this year, they [falsely] accused me of click-fraud only a few weeks later and kept all the earnings from my private page as well. Thanks, guys.)

Could someone PLEASE come up with a similar system (that works in Europe and the rest of the world, too), google's monopoly really sucks. (And no, Adster & Co simply don't cut it.) I would even book Microsoft for that matter...

Thanks, had I had the time, I would have expressed myself in a more accurate way, very much like you did. You're entirely correct. No doubt, they are good in patent law. Unfortunately, the "legal training" patent lawyers have does not suffice to look beyond the plate's edge in most cases. They are in NO WAY the ones to talk to when it comes to more philosophical issues like the question whether swpats are a "good thing" or not, ie whether they have the effects that some parties claim.
