Don't like perl 6? Use perl 5. How is this an issue? Unless you cast your lot with the cult of Gates, old poducts last a long, long time before they're considred useless...
Here's what I don't get: their motive for changing the logo is (among other things) "negative cultural, and religious ramifications". They then suggest Darwin's mascot hexley as a refence logo / mascot. The thing is holding a pitchfork. Is this not a negative religious ramification? Where is the line drawn. I am confsed...
... previous pump-n-dump speculation mentioned that there needed to be 4 quarters of profitabliy before Darl got a big bonus kick-in - this appears not to have happened. Am I missing something obvious, was this 100% fabrication, or did Darl get nailed here?
Agreed that outsourcing is not perfect in India today, however find me a historical case of global outsourcing failing in the long term. Arguing that this is a short term fad that will reverse once the "big picture of costs" is reviewed is extremely theoretical, and more than a little insulting to the millions of professionals in these countries.
Everything that I've seen dissapear from the west stays gone. And it's not just the low tech textile / manufacuring stuff. Look inside the box you are reading this on. Find me the part that is made or designed in the Americas or Europe (apart from my ATI card, I don't see much).
As long as cost to the consumer is the yardstick we measure with, everything that can be outsourced will. Nothing can stop this, other than a lowering of our standard of living, or a shift in our goals from cheap goods to something more human.
I'm not suggesting anything 'legal' here (-; SCO has been pushing the hideous NDA on anyone that wants to see the code. This is why up to this point very little is known.
What we have here is another case of SCO publicly venting their 'infractioned' code. Last time this happened, analysis was quick. The only downside was that the code snipped was so small. This time they need to show everything.
Closed court or no, somethings bound to leak, publically or not...
Too true - I sat through the two together at my house, and my ass was a big sack of hurt! Maybe they should hire staff to rotate us so that we don't wind up getting bed sores...
Thanks for the t-shirt details printout - I know she said she'd hand them out after lunch, but I had to split early (the first half was the only interesting bit for me anyways).
Yeah I forgot to mention the M$ laptops...
One of the attendees in the back row was a M$ employee (ex-SCO) who's now big in their 'convert from *nix' organization, so that's even more non-SCO at the roadshow. I think they were expecting more press (given that 'press' was one of the options on the 'and what is your reason here' check box of their feedback form).
No need to ask questions - the 'legitimate' attendees do this for you. I had a few things I was going to mention, however I felt it was more informative for me to shut yap & absorb. There was no need to educate the crowd - they were educated. And trying to educate SCOs marketing machine.... uh, no.
Oops on the Walgreens then. There was mention of a US drug chain on their list... sorry for not making a specific note.
In their defence, they did in fact have a decent sized list of cutomers, just no list of decent customers (where bleeding edge IT is concerned). I went into this with little SCO background, and was expecting something... bigger. Their size really hit home at this thing. How they can call an OS that's run on some of the world's fastest boxes immature is now reely reely reely beyond me (where it was before only reely beyond me)...
Attended stop #1 of the roadshow (Toronto). Interesting. Little visible linux representation, but not a happy place regardless. Writeup @ my site (I can't be bothered re-writing what I put there)...
Ebay autions no longer has the pictures of this fantastic conversion. Anyone keep a few about? It really was a fantastic conversion ...

The GNU / FSF organization has an organization exactly for this purpose. How successful are they?
1) Apart from the SCO mess, little is seen in courts regarding this kinda cr@p, and
2) They pretty much self-fund off the results of these clashes...
A'rpi / Gabucino / whomever needs to contact Eben Moglen et al on this sort of stuff : license-violation@gnu.org.
Thanks for clarifying, if possible

McDogfood was mentioned as a client. You are correct.
Yeah, this kinda surprised me at mention too. 3 years ago nobody would blink at a weenie overbloated stock take over, but now?
The page was originally part of a frame - I took out the other cr@p to reduce /. effect. Oops on not restoring the other stuff...
Damn. I was interested in seeing the /. in real time... that's why I put a counter there ...
