This came up a month or so ago, so I call DUPE! Anyway. It isn't a matter of API, think functionality. Does it support 3-way calling or call transfer? A slick app would (in the background), sey up wifi, establish a VOIP client, dial VOIP client via 3-way calling, connect VOIP client, disconnect 3G/GSM line. Simple? Well, no. You'll need a "number" (a.k.a. some VOIP link to the telco network probably via SIP), that the iCall provider will gladly sell you or give for free in exchange for VOIP SPAM.

  8. Re:Without background processes, VOIP not so much. on iCall Brings Seamless VoIP To IPhone Users · · Score: 1

Since iCall also does SIP termination, my guess is that they have some sort of script to automatically make and answer a simple call transfer (i.e. VOIP app has a different phone number that gets the call transferred to). It's doable, but it's one of those things that almost nobody I know uses outside of the office.

So, if I go on a linux try-fest, and download the latest Debian, Ubuntu, Knoppix, et. al CDs, then I am a heavy user? 1GB 2 CDs. I've probably downloaded these same images a number of times and then blown them away. I lose the CDs since I don't label them and it's cheaper to grab another copy than to look. p.s. I did this just yesterday for a system migration, New Debian for a server; new Ubunut for a Mythtv machine, new Knoppix to work out some integration bugs.
