  1. Welll Slashdot Does it again on Annual Fee For Your Comment? · · Score: 5, Informative

What the article submitter forgot to mention is that If you buy the magazine you get access free for 1 month.

    So you have 5 groups
    1) Subscribers - They have paid money and get access for the length of their subscription
    2) Mag Buyers - They get access every month they buy the mag. All they have to do is enter that months code. They have paid money for the mag and get a free months access with it. This is reusable for every month.
    3) You are a God or Mod or SuperHero or Hero - You are at the top anyway so you get access free
    4) You dont buy the mag - so there is a $20 year charge for something that is based around a magazine and is a commercial entity. Heck slashdots subsribtion cost money. You need to stay afloat
    5) You dont buy the mag and dont want to pay so you just lurk

And If so, Does that mean that the makers of james bond can claim prior art on this idea.

Just another case of people copying movies for ideas :-)

Let's see somebody post a video of what happens when you twist the hinge on the DS flip screen....
Why would you be twisting the screen during game play anyway. The whole point about this, as seen in the videos is that it take a reletivly little twist, that could be done during game play.

In all seriousness, look at getting a few japanese PS2 and Gamecubes, with story driven games like zelda or final fantisy.

This way It will force the students to learn to read japanese while enjoying playing the game. It will be a good experience for you and for the students.

It will be fun and beneficial. Just make sure they cant just skip the japanese, So no soul Calibur 2.

That would be awsome. Rather than a movie of 1970 rock which was cool, It would give the film a good heavy and alternative feel. Wouldnt that set the scene. :-) Or maybe we should attempt to rerecord it metal style, I recon Jeff (not jeff wayne) would be up for it.

Except That the original war of the world movie was shocking. If there was anything the should have based it on (except the book) was the 1960-70's radio play version. The whole idea of war of the world in modern day america is flawed. Take it back to original 1800's England. And im a aussie. so it is not british pride or something

Well, being an aussie my self I cannot see this happening.

The rating rules in australia are not as harsh as the american rules. Yes it is true that we dont have r18+ and XXX. But many of the games that get a 17/18+ rating in america get a 15+ rating here.

The did have to censor GTA3 to remove the ability to have sex with prostitues then beat them to death. But I really dont think that is going to happen in HL2.

HL2 will pass just fine and this article is just a person trying to make news by starting a rumour about someting totally unlikely.

The lowest unlimited price for 512/128 is about au$90 (us$60) (and that is crap speeds -slow) a decent unlimited comes at au$100 (or us$66).

Decent 1500/256 (that is the fasted aussie) is at i think au$230(about us$160). :-)

    DAMN TELSTRA.

Ps there is 62 us cents in 1 aussie dollar. so think about it in us dollars :-(

  16. RFID TAGS. LOOK AT ME :-) on Reading, Writing, RFID · · Score: 2, Interesting

    OK 2 things.

1 - Who hear has to wear ID tags at work. *raises hand*, who needs to swipe them to get into work *raises other hand*. What is the difference.

What is the difference between manual rolls and RFID rolls. or the difference between libary cards which must be manually swiped and rfid where they can just walk past a sensor to borrow stuff.

2 - RFID signals are encrypted and encoded. Yes I know people will be able to crack these codes but do you seriously think shops like kmart will bother to work out the encryption of a school kids ID cards considering every school will have a different encryption.

So The use of RFID tags at school is simply speeds up the roll marking process. There is no privacy difference between a teacher manualy marking the roll and the kids electronically doing it. :-)

Here we are on a geeks and tech forum and everyone is scared of a little electronicalisation. (spelling is bad).

Heck I would have prefered my school to have these systems instead of having to manually mark the roll each day and manually scan ID tags.
