Or does this mean that Sony will soon force PS3 owners to upgrade to only "approved" hard drives? (Like Microsoft with the 360, only slightly less obvious.)
But problems like these . . . are the kind of thing you sign up for if you want to be an early adopter.
The first iPhone came out in June 2007. iPhone 4 is the fourth version of a phone line that's been available for three years, and in development for a few years longer than that. If it's still too early to buy an iPhone without having a reasonable expectation of problems like these being ironed out, then it'll never be time to buy one.
"Chaplain," he continued, looking up, "we accuse you also of the commision of crimes and infractions we don't even know about yet. Guilty or innocent?"
"I don't know, sir. How can I say if you don't tell me what they are?"
I think that O'Brien's reversal of the motto is more appropriate for Apple: SLAVERY IS FREEDOM. By giving up the right to make "grander" or "higher-level" choices, the user gains the perception that his device will be taken care of for him as far as its software is concerned. By voluntarily becoming a slave to Apple's App Store-iPhone OS ecosystem, the user gains peace of mind, and he gets to say he uses an iDevice to boot.
I'm pretty sure that articles labeled Your Rights Online are for discussing people's rights in an online format. If the articles were about rights on the internet, then the category would probably/hopefully be called Your Online Rights.
But in those situations some nasty shit went down. Those all had to do with war at some level, and war affecting people. What the fuck is the gravity of "All your base are belong to us"? Nothing. It's just a poor translation.
Generally governments don't listen when people are polite. That's what history's shown, anyway, and I put a good amount of stock in it.
Sounds like Typing of the Dead to me.
Looks like there won't be, I don't think: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2010/09/wdsu-oil-rig-explosion-in-gulf-off-louisiana/
And that is why you are not a lawyer, judge, and/or politician.
Why the fuck was this modded funny?

Unfortunately it appears that they redacted text by blacking it out with permanent marker or somesuch...
Probably because it's not.
Fixed that for myself.

Reminds me of the Cowboy Bebop episode "Bohemian Rhapsody."
No, The Economist seems to be blowing the government, at least in this case.
Bread and circuses.

Next time I won't post ten minutes after waking up. Thanks for the correction.
If only that were possible where I live.
It's the American way to pay shittons of cash for the laws you want.

Ex post facto oversight is worthless.

Right, just like the PATRIOT Acts I & II were only to fight terrorists, this new power will only be in case of an "emergency."
