Actually, it's because Lucas got into the whole Joseph Campbell in Bill Moyers Own Words, ipso post facto, that the new star wars stuff sucks. He was trying to impress Leonard Maltin and other pop-critics (who got no respect from "real" critics in their own time) five years after Return of the Jedi went to video. The whole pseudo-intellectual tack-on is what made the new movies suck.
There is an emerging pattern here of apologists for George Lucas claiming they are fans of Star Wars, but that the rest of us have no right to our opinion and it is only a few of us raving losers who think the new movies are at least twice as good and it turns out by the way the the apologist thought-nazi posters really have hated star wars all along but they're going to enjoy the new one so why don't we stop comparing Hitler and Stalin or at least stop mentioning Lenin in the same sentence.
Why don't you ask everyone else (besides George Lucas) who was involved in the creation of the Star Wars movies if they don't feel that what Lucas has done with the franchise (which included their creative efforts as well, he just happens to own the copyright) is a disgrace?
"Disgrace to the franchise" meaning a disgrace to George Lucas and the hundreds, if not thousands, of other creative people that their their efforts to Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return, of the Jedi, Ewoks, Battle for Endor, Droids, and all the cool toys, dolls, and other and fast food tie-ins.
Many an artist has disgraced himself in his dotage, but few have tainted the collective creative efforts of so many with his own degneration. It's on an even bigger scale than Paul Hewson's self-destruction and robboing of enjoyment of his past work by fans of U2.
Yeah, but Venezuala is the foremost force in world communism, ever since China sold out and Kim Jong Il got throroughly mocked in Team USA. Someone should tell Hugo the RMS's version of open source is as out of date as Fidel's costume.
I did read every one of them.
OpenInteract looks like a good starting point, but it doesn't look like it has much of a user base, and probably won't fit my usage. I was expressing my contempt earlier for people who suggest something like Mason as a framework when I complain about PHP.
Rogue beats hack every time. It's the difference between Wolfenstein and Doom (and every other game since.) The difference between Super Mario Bros. and ever other imitator.
Playability, plot, atmosphere.
In Capitalist Theory, we all get to be John Rockefeller. In Communist Theory we all get to be union laborers. In Capitalist Practice, some of us get to be John Rockefellers; some of us get to be union laborers; and some of us end up on welfare with cable TV and $100 sneakers. In Communist Practice, one person gets to be Stalin, and the rest of us (who survive) get to be starving peasants.
photography isn't exactly an art. Just like a record player isn't exactly a musical instrument. Anyone can push a button on a camera and it comes out the same. Anyone can (or used to) play a record and it comes out the same. Most professional photographers aren't artists in the same way that most professional DJs aren't musicians. Similarly, the degree of artistic expression is much more limited with a camera or a stereo then with paint or guitars.
I meant more than a simple include or template. Perl can already read files and do regex search and replace. Something to handle security, sessions, action-chaining, application state, data validation, resource pooling, etc., beyond what is provided by the Apache API and miscellaneous packages like DBI that I handle manually.
So either your answer is "no" or "I don't know" -- which is it?
BTW, is there such a thing as a perl framework?
No, not mason or something like that. That's like using smarty. I'll just include my PHP pages thanks, or embperl, but I'm not liking the idea of just having environment variables with global scope where my pages slurp up all the info done in the mod_perl pre-processing.
I'm thinking of switching to mod_perl, and I don't even like perl. I have alot of PHP pages that load just way too much on every request, and a lot of custom built servlet-frameworks because I don't like any of the existing java frameworks. Lately I've come to the conclusion (and reaffirmed by Rod Johnson's J2EE books) that it's really okay to put your application stack all together as long as it's logically separated. My only complaint is that it seems most of the perl knowledge is locked up in the minds of perl gurus, though I'm always amazed at what I find on CPAN when I go looking for something (recently, a EAN to ISBN converter written by a librarian in Tampa, thanks; although it took longer to install all the modules than it would have to learn how to calculate the checksum myself -- and of course CPAN broke after a few and I ended up copying several manually after their Makefile.PL choked and then I had to create a no-op module to get it to run.

Pointing out another apologist who never liked Star Wars and is now wishing to silence the rest of us.

You obviously hate Star Wars and have a disingenuous and ulterior reason for claiming to like the new George Lucas movies.
Blues Clues sucks too.
Just because he owns the copyright doesn't make other people's work any more his.

Okay, what does string theory explain? What does it predict? Thank you very much.
we still use Newton every day. Einstein, however, is relegated to a few crackpot sci-fi fans and pop icon posters.

It wasn't the USA, it was George Soros and his Open Society EU front.
If they're going to openly be our enemies, kill them. We don't need to pay tribute to them.

Yes, cultures change. So why do these 11 year olds seem to have 30 year old cultural sensibilities?
Is that the tool that's used to write New York Times technology articles?

How do you feel about there not being any new game *since* Wolfenstein?

The images are open to the public. Just like words are open to the public. But you can trademark a common word.
put their name on it. It's free advertising.
