Actually, some countries (like the USA) have a government system designed to avoid military coups (internally). Even with corruption. Because, surprisingly, corrupt systems are still better for the people than chaos, or dictatorship. Especially if the people have the ability to change the corrupt system, or uncorrupt it, if they want to.
It doesn't have anything to do with the existing two parties or current. Those 'in power' suck. Always, or almost always. Most third parties in America suck even worse, which is quite an accomplishment, considering they don't even have the power to corrupt them.
You insult the intellegence of Americans.
I have been a registered 'no' voter, along with the majority of Americans for several years. Only, you can't non-elect someone. At least my silence is heard.
I'm pretty sure Microsoft had a hand in it, but it's not like your think (or pretend to.)
The 'glitch' was undoubtably a public file share on the network that some Republican 'discovered.' While it's probably not ethical to go snooping on a folder labelled 'Democratic Secret Strategies', and then sharing the contents with the press, it's the Democratics own fault for not securing them. I doubt there was anything legally or procedurally wrong with what the Republicans did, any more than if they found the documents in an unmarked filing cabinet in the library.
PS. Microsoft backed the Democrats by 2 to 1 in campaign contributions in 2000.
I notice everyone wants to use the '->' notation to signify the key->value relationship. Why is this? Could it be because it is less ambiguous than ':'? If so, then why not use that construct in the language, or if it is ambiguous for pointers, use '=>' (as ruby does.) Also, what's a 'def'? A function definition? Why not be more precise, especially if there is already a convention. Python tries too hard to be 'different' in the syntax for being different's sake. That's why I keep giving up on it. Too bad, because I really want something cleaner than Perl or PHP for scripting.
What kind of job do you have where you can just switch your development language? Even on my personal projects, I have a lot of perl and PHP that I'm trying to migrate to Java (need persistent objects, and sadly, I don't see anything better than EJBs), but it just doesn't seem feasible.
Now that's a good idea. In fact I suspect we'll start seeing LOTR (that's Lord of the Rings for you trekkie acronym purists) spinoff serieses. The overarching theme could be the search for the Entwives. I've heard rumours that Tom Bombadil's cartoon hour is in negotiations with the History Channel. See, they're going to provide animated documentaries of the first and second age. Imagine the professorial narrative explaining the connections (and differences) between Ringwraiths and Barrow Wights (as well as a side-discussion about whether or not Dwarves can be corrupted by rings), then look for the Discovery dinosaur crew to team up with Weta for a destruction of Numenor, or breaking of Thangorodrim. I can hardly wait!
Dude, the captain is the best. You just have to bang your remote from time to time and say "Al?" and the show gets a lot better. I like to mute the TV during the opening credits and sing "Love Touch" or "Maggie", to get me stoked. You're right though, the vulcan chick is hot. I can't wait for it to get cancelled so she can do some more mainstream work.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the 'kook' t-shirts in my former post above. It probably goes without saying, though, since there'd be so many of them. I said it anyway.
Who are they?
The question is, do you really care to see the type of characters on TNG get developed? It'd be easier if they just stencilled 'fruitcake', 'wuss', 'pansy', and 'dork' on their shirts and read the lines in a monotone. Except for Murdock. He made that series. Is that who you were talking about. I got the jazz.
Google is suffering from the theoretical Linux virus problem.
While it actually *is* more resistant to abuse than other systems, it is not invulnerable. In fact, the main reason that Google (in the past) returned better search results than other sites, is because the abusers were targeting Yahoo, Excite, Infoseek, Lycos, Altavista, or whatever. Also, there were fewer of them. The only way to overcome the search abuse will be to become an underdog with a new algorithm who the abusers are *not* targeting.
I hope this succeeds, because I can't wait until it's adapted to be used for spam blocking.
Of course, by copyrighted, they don't mean copyrighted, they mean a small number of works whose copyright is owned by an exclusive cabal of powerful media companies; and of course, it wouldn't work anyway.
So, if you have a database with more than a 4 gig file, you can run it on your laptop. Or I guess you could squeeze a little bit of speed out of your global warming or big bang "simulators" running on it.
A friend of mine got a VPR Matrix just before I got my eMachines Athlon laptop. He's jealous. Not only does it look cooler to him, but it runs cooler too. Surprisingly cool for a laptop. And, of course, the reasons I got it are because it has better components and costs less. That's why my friend with the Thinkpad is jealous too. What I'd be jealous of is someone with a Crusoe, because mine's only got about 3 hours life. I'm guessing the monitor and the hard drive suck more power than the CPU, though.
Hey, AT&T might rule the world of computing, except they couldn't sell Unix because they abused their Monopoly status. That's the rules of the game. No, the laws were written for natural monopolies (like SO), not state sponsored ones (like AT&T.)
You weren't talking to me, but I have not read "The Lexus and the Olive Tree: Understanding Globalization" by Thomas Friedman?
So what?
why do only republicans have an implied level of integrity and honesty thrust upon them?

you are a murderer in every way except courage.
The truth is sometimes absurd.

'not feasible' and 'legislation' are not mutually exclusive terms.

Why don't you ask Dr. C. Emmett Brown, aka Kruge in Star Trek III, The Search for Spock?

relax, ascii is only 7 bit.

prediction: there will be email portability (similar to cell phone number portability) legislation proposed soon.

Chevy and Ford sell better cars than Volkswagon for half the price. PS. A Jetta is a girl's car.
what do you gain if you scale up the fonts? Might as well use the smaller fonts with the smaller resolution
