and of course it will be bloated and slow things to a crawl!
Also, it doesn't matter how much iCandy (sorry, bad pun) you put into vista if all the stuff worth having in it (Monad shell, WinFS, etc) is removed before shipment.
I use a mac and love the interface. How can you improve on perfection. If you have to have a windows interface on your mac, then you must be afraid to go out and learn something new, and mo' betta!
40kV is not the issue here. As noted in earlier posts, it is the AMPS not the volts, that count. And if he discharged enough amps to make something combust, he would be a dead man, since 6 milliamps is enough to kill you. Lightning can be as much as 100 MEGAvolts and people sometimes survive that. Obviously the current is going to be a little bit higher than 6 mAmp.
I like my Microtek Scanmaker. It is a great scanner if you are on a budget. It has pretty good quality and speed and the software is pretty good. However, the mac version of the software is often somewhat buggy. The windows software works better. If you have a little more scratch, I recommend Epson.
Epson IMHO, makes by far some of the best printers in the industry. What sets them apart is that their cartridges do not have the print head built in. The individual ink tanks have a hole in the bottom that a plastic tube sticks up into from the print head to basically drain the tank. This makes these tanks extremely easy to refill. just use a half a swizzle stick and a syringe and plug it into the hole like the normal one in the head and fill 'er up.
Most if not all of the plutonium used in both atomic bombs was produced by the B reactor (and several other reactors) at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in southeastern Washington State. Now it houses Pacific Northwest National Laboratory where energy research is conducted. But we are also cleaning up all the radioactive sludge left behind from the 40s thru the 60s. The city of Richland was established as a government town of mostly prefab houses back during the early days of the war. Before then it was a pioneer town. Richland is located only about 20 miles from the reservation. Now it is a medium city with about 40,000 people in it. I have lived here my whole life and so many people (especially back east) joke around and say that we glow in the dark. Just before Hiroshima, many Hanford workers donated a day's pay to help buy a B-24 (I think) bomber. It was called the "Day's Pay." To that end, one of our two high schools (Richland High School, where I just graduated) has the Bomber as its mascot and we are called the "Richland Bombers." It feels great to live in such a historic gem of a city.
I once wanted to upgrade my old computer from windows ME (which I have had no problems with, I am one of the lucky ones) to Windows XP Professional. I decided to install it on a separate partition first to check compatibility since this was only a few months after it was even released. I installed it and found that, after installing all the latest drivers, my sound card, printer, scanner, modem, ethernet card, and firewire card were all dead, with no updated drivers to be found anywhere. I took the software back to the retailer and said that it wasn't compatible with my hardware and they said they don't take opened software (typical). I asked for a written copy of their return policy, they said they couldn't give it out. I asked how I could get a refund. They said to contact Microsoft. I called microsoft and told them what happened and they said to just send them the box and a copy of my receipt. I did and sure enough, a week later, I got a check for the full purchase amount, including sales tax and shipping! This is far from what MS is like now. Just for kicks, I called the national chain's regional office and asked how I could get a written copy of their return policy and they said "The store wouldn't give it to you?"
The author really stuck it to the manufacturer, but since you don't mention any specialized needs for your laptop, I have three words for you: BUY A MAC!;)
I have a friend who once did something like this with an old pentium 2 350mhz computer. To keep moisture out, he duct taped all seams on the case and cut makeshift air filters out of simple polyester batting to fit on the fans to keep the dust out and made a small wooden cabinet for the monitor and also used a form fitting plastic keyboard cover to keep it clean. For the mouse, I forgot what he did. I think he might have used a cheap optical mouse.
I use this backpack nearly everyday. It has a HUGE amount of room for books and stuff as well as fairly well-padded pockets for ipod and notebook. It also has a small pocket on one shoulder strap for a cell phone. I love it!
I learned to touch type back in 5th grade, but have never been able to keep myself from using only two or three fingers on each hand. I actually type faster than with all my fingers as is traditionally taught.
I have tried these programs in vain ever since McAffee came out with First Aid. These programs worked for a while, but then began to screw things up majorly. Too many things to explain. Anyway, for these programs, I tried, then I switched to the Mac;-).
I switched to the mac os last summer and have no regrets of it at all. Mainly, I was tired of the constant updates, windows nags (you know that evil little search engine dog?) and having my new hardware and software not work. Apple stuff JUST WORKS!! It's easy, it's efficient and I couldn't be happier. I still use windows for my home file server and stuff like my old dos games, but that's about it. All of the latest games that are actually worth buying like call of duty come out for mac very shortly after their windows counterparts. And also with some of the technologies and stuff in mac os x panther, I have found it to be true that microsoft IMITATES rather than INNOVATES.

Revert back to the old days. Hit the damn kids when they get out of line!!
What about malicious web sites or programs that secretly install said content on your computer? Porn Dialers?
but in cyberspace, no one can hear you scream. They can only feel the violent tremors of our cyber-privacy being uprooted even further

I am behind a linksys router, have a software firewall and an alphanumeric password, but I am not as paranoid as I used to be. I USE A MAC!!
