    I didn't say it was easy to start a manufacturing union, I simply said it was even harder for developers due to a lack of direct costs in moving to non-unionized labor in our field.

    The second a union starts, the company closes the local shop and outsources all development to a place where unions are illegal.

    Manufacturers at least have a direct cost associated with moving a factory; most costs attributed to outsourcing are intangible in development and are thus usually ignored by PHBs.

    My troll, eh? So let me get this straight, you have no problem with the parent of my OP here, but you do have a problem with my post. Extrapolating from that, apparently insulting one's religious beliefs is fine and dandy, but calling someone out as being a dick is not.

    *shrugs* I've been at the karma cap here for years. Your Jedi mind tricks don't work on me. If you want a forum where everyone is 100% on topic all the time, Slashdot isn't and hasn't been it.

    Great. I have a question: Has there ever been a trademark infringement lawsuit, where the defendants had both been using the trademark in the market and had originated it before the plaintiffs, and where the plaintiffs won the case? I sincerely doubt it.

    Nope, and that's often the strategy of trolls; wait until another company gains traction with "your" "idea" and then bring out the submarine patent and sue for retroactive license payments.

    From the summary, I was under the impression that there was de facto compression involved: There was less information transmitted that losslessly could be converted back to full packets. Perhaps I should have RTFA.
