    I agree with you on the most part but I just wanted to highlight one exception I heard this season: Dennis Kucinich's TV and (especially) radio ads. No actors posing as "average Joes", no mudslinging of opponents; just him talking.

    Were I a citizen of Ohio, he would have won my vote from that ad alone.

    Comprehensibility of documentation

    I dunno, the official documentation is pretty comprehensive.

    Decently organized functions.

    If you're talking about stored procedures, maybe. Otherwise, MySQL is ANSI compliant for the most part, so very little should be new.

    A major effort at ironing out bugs, quirks, and exceptions to rules. Gawd, PHP is just a horror, and end users hate Java and Javascript, what a mess those versions are. Who the hell has time to overhaul their applications every time the publishers of PHP scratch their asses?

    And here you've gone off on PHP when I asked specifically about the database, and the rest of your issues follow suit.

    Databases are data entry applications, that means keyboard navigation. Keep your hands on the keyboard. The graphical mouseable interface is just death.

    Nope. Databases are databases. Data entry applications query a database. Like I said, if you want a purely text interface, you're welcome to code your own in C. MySQL isn't tied to PHP in any way.

    Please elaborate: What features do you feel that MySQL (purely as a database, not counting what language is used to interface with it since it can be interfaced with practically anything) is missing? Same question for PostgreSQL.

    The equivalent to modding on consoles is homebrew. The hardware companies don't like it, but it is and probably always will be there.

    Every major console, including handhelds, runs a custom OS anyway. Even the Xbox isn't really running Windows. The fact that they're running Linux means they probably wanted to avoid reinventing the wheel since it already has a mature kernel and useful userland tools. The GUI will probably still be 90%+ custom-built.

    My Canadian bank offers 3 months worth of records on line as well.

    If you want a Canadian bank that offers full history records for free, PC Financial will serve your needs (and almost never charge you a service fee, to boot!)

    If you were on a contract, probably, especially if this provision was in the contract (which it probably would be since ISP contracts usually incorporate the terms of service by reference).
