You are. It's a reference to the konami code for women. you know up up down down left right left right . . .
but you're right it should be modded funny.
china's phenomenal growth was and is fueled by foreign (western) investors. i'm not denying ip theft, but that seems like a domestic issue (and maybe some complicated trade issues).
my point is if china's growth is really caused by ip theft than why are the foreign companies setting up shop in china? it seems like a set up for failure. It seems more likely they go to china cause they can get cheaper R&D. And thats the cause of economic growth.
I think its already been made clear that this company is based in Taiwan not China. Even though its true that in general they're have been problems with counterfeit/piracy/look-alike products in Asia, Taiwanese government have been quick to shutdown operations and quick to protect "intellectual property." Ever since they were almost censured by America, their government has tackled the problem head on to improve international relations, which in turn gets them more business, which gets them more money.
I think you're right.
It seems to me that software policy is not patentable because it encapsulates things not thought of by the original patent holder.
While software implementation is a lot easier and fair to control.
User interface would fall into this category. A specific DRM is an implementation. But to patent and idea (policy) seems outrageously stupid.
I'm not a patent expert, but this seems to fall into the original spirit of the patent. I know i'm being redundant here, but for clarity. It makes sense for me to hold a patent on a specific method on brewing beer. but it doesn't make sense for me to hold a patent on brewing beer.
Even without prior art, those patents shouldn't have been given in the first place!!!
i think i remember reading that the xbox 2 development kits use powermacs with windows nt ported to powerpc. and mac os x was ported to x86 on a collaborative project with intel until jobs pulled the plug.
Apparantley the copy protection is only for non US and UK CDs. Still underhanded, but most of us should be safe.

But even if you put the lack of some titles aside (what if the LAN party you are invited to plays "Counterstrike"?), the 1.5 GHz CPU is exactly what it is, a 1.5 GHz CPU.
It's hard for me to believe that statement. Performance is a relation of execution time. Execution time = #Instructions * Instructions/Cycle * Clock Cycle.
Your thinking is exactly what Intel has spent millions of dollars on advertising for. Apple and AMD has spent money trying to convince us that a lower IPC is what makes a computer run faster. they're both right, they're just not both completely right. Its still kind of humorous too see Intel redefine their position when the centrinos came out -- "ok, maybe its not all about clock speed."
barefeats.com states it best.
One "handicap" that Macs may never overcome: Direct X. Most PC 3D graphics apps are optimized to run best in Direct X graphics mode, not OpenGL. For Windows PC apps, OpenGL is an afterthought. When those apps are converted to run on Mac under OpenGL... well you get the picture.
In this article the author states basically the same thing as above, but for a different reason. Apparently, it has been known for quite some time that tall people are paid more, but this journalist opened a slightly bigger door to the reasons being.
Quick summary:
Tall people are more confident. Confidence pays.
But that can't be the only reason can it? One can't deny there is negative media, societal pressures, and even evolution to blame here. So what can we short people do?
Well this, or just live with it. Money is just money.

I don't know how this got modded insightful.

marketing is very different from advertising
