  1. I guess I should sue google too... on CPA Googles For His Name, Sues Google For Libel · · Score: 1

Since a quick google of my name gives me a damning account of a murderer with the same name as me. Hmmmm, I must be entitled to millions!

I agree that it would probably be more interesting to drop the rover near some mountains or other geologic features, but I think there may have been big problems if the rover was a little off its landing site. It could easily get smashed up if it smacked into a cliff or something. I'm no expert, but NASA probably chose these sites to increase the probability of a successful landing.

  3. Effectiveness? on Fighting Cancer With The Common Cold? · · Score: 1

Any word on how effective the preclinical trials were? I'm assuming they went well since clinical trials are starting soon. But I'd like to know just how useful this treatment actually is.

  4. That is SO weird on Have You Fought Your ISP Over Bandwidth Limits? · · Score: 1

I just got an email today from my ISP telling me I'm using 30 - 40 times the normal bandwidth, and they suggest I stop using filesharing programs!
    That is way too weird.
I think /. is stealing my brainwaves.

  5. SpecForce Ninja Power! on Saddam Hussein Arrested · · Score: 2, Funny

Wouldn't it have made more sense for the US to send in an elite squadron of spec-force ninja-cyborg's and have them waiting in Saddam's bathroom instead of going through that whole "war" thing? They should have just assassinated him a while ago. Would have saved a lot of money and a lot of lives and would have had the same impact.

The world hates America. Trust me, they do.
If I were an American I would have long since moved out of that place.
The USA needs to quit bullying the world. You American's are not as "great" as you all seem to think. As a whole, mind you, I'm not talking about individuals, I'm sure there's lots of great American people, but the way your country is run makes me very worried as to how far your government will go in the name of "national security" which is just another word(s) for "oppression"

I, for one, hate the United States of America.

Have you ever heard of the Spectrum ZX? (i think its ZX, maybe its Z80, i dunno) That was the first computer I ever had. My friend had a C64 and I can remember playing Gauntlet for hours. Now I have Gauntlet on my iPAQ. My how things have changed. *sigh*

  10. better to distroy battle-bots then people on The Future of Battlefield Robots · · Score: 1

Since governments (USA in particular) seem to think its a great idea to spend billions of dollars every year for "defence", I think it would be a far better scenario for the "troops" to be robots instead of people. The needless killing of stupid 20-somethings with nothing better to do is far worse than a bunch of defunct battle-bots in the trenches. I doubt these robotic troops will become very widespread in any recent timeframe, but it's good to see that Armies will eventually be able to use robots instead of people.
