Ah I understand... I mis-parsed your paragraph. So is the little flash of light that the Enterprise gives off after going to warp speed Cherenkov radiation?:)
Have you ever seen the ipod? The old ones had a big ass wheel as the primary input device. The new ones use solid-state components for the wheel, but it works pretty well. Also, on the old ipods breakout was an easter egg. Now they put it in the games menu.
Ok, I looked it up... According to http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/physics/CherenkovR adiation.html, this is electromagnetic radiation in the UV region of the spectrum. That sounds a lot like light to me. We're probably getting into an esoteric discussion here, but I would argue that Cherenkov radiation sound like "light that travels faster than other light in the same medium". Not massive bodies.
I think the grandparent was implying that the literal definition of evesdropping means to listen to a conversation "out of sight". If you are out of sight, you can't see the transmission. Admittedly, the word "listen" can be generalized to mean "receive data".

Well, with VMware, isn't the OS really just a glorified application?
using a years-old copy with crack
You should really cut down on the crack ;)
Yeah, Sun does something like this with the Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Client. I'm guessing it's not going so well.
A company is a resource just like anything else you exchange for currency.
Actually, it's not a "direct frequency". Rather, the signal uses a wide band of frequency. Hence the name "broadband".
Sprint Broadband is apparently not accepting new customers, but there are still local and regional providers like Outlaw Wireless to be found.
ISP-Planet seems to be a good resource.
You can do VPN over satellite... a quick google search would show that.
Don't forget wireless companies!
was that lawyer-esq(ue) pun intended?

Since the AC/DC conversion is probably done in an external transformer, I don't think the problem will be very big.
For the holidays, I want people to stop referring to solid state storage as a "drive".
Most drive makers are really moving towards supporting both formats anyways, so it's not as big of a deal as it used to be.

My female robot...
This is going to be the be best prom ever!
25% is about half, right?

I suppose if you want to get technical, it refers to people not on the roof, but under the eaves. Try http://www.wordorigins.org/wordore.htm
Obviously they need to get in the Delorean, go one month into the future to patch the bug, and then bring it back to November.
It's surely electromechanical. As in MEMS. I played with a MEMS accelerometer once... microscopic springs, cost about $10. SSOP is a bitch to solder.
Just wait until someone writes some kind of wacky motion sensing version of DDR for this thing. The looks will be priceless.
Yeah, but what if you want to scroll while you are walking? Thats a lot of extra acceleration to compensate for.
Also, no mention of outdoor screen brightness/contrast that I could find. That could be a killer with no real buttons.
It's the color of one hand clapping. Seriously, this is the same type of question as "if a tree falls in the woods..."
