Good lord. Look: Assange is publishing the information that is leaked to him by people horrified by what their employers are doing. He is acting in the people's best interests. One of the greatest evils in this world, to my mind, is modern banking. It's slavery, and I cannot wait until this is properly exposed. Btw, your advocacy of murder is truly appalling.

It's about two teams of four outwitting eachother - at least it is for me. If you're only playing offline or co-operative then you're really missing out on what L4D's all about - you're only playing bots, after all, and how dull is that? In CS, you only really use 4/5 weapons and the same number of maps. There may be more - but they don't get used. Sometimes for a laugh, sure, an odd map is played, and league play tends to bring out the odd strange one to throw a spanner in the works, however you'll find that most cs players will spend the evening on probably a max of four different maps - the same old four, too. Anyways, we'll probably just have to agree to disagree. I think we're coming at it from different angles, you seem to be after more of a single player experience, I'm more into online, competitive-type stuff.

I'm not wishing to be rude, but I think you kind of missed the point about L4D: it's all about the execution and not the content. Hell, I played CS constantly for more than half a decade over maybe, 4/5 maps, at most. Getting the game to play and flow so well was their goal, including 27 variants of weapons was not. I'd far rather have 5 excellent monsters than 10 ok ones. It seems they spent their development schedule on testing and perfecting the gameplay, so people talk about the mad tactics they can pull in VS mode and create their own little stories, all as a result of the fluidity of the gameplay. I reckon there will be loads of content over the next year.

    Oh I know he's a troll, but I'll bite.

Episode 2 brings a lot of new tech to the series and has been in development for quite some time. It is a new title. It is made by some of the most talented people in the industry. It will, most likely, be very good.

Team Fortress 2 is extremely exciting to people who like fps online or who enjoyed the original (I didn't like the original much, but that's a different story). You clearly know absolutely nothing about it.

And as for 'Portal is just a new set of skins on half-life with a bit of storyline' - now we know you really are just making this up to annoy people.

'if I want to pay 50$ for a game with one new gun' - is it just the banging noise guns make in game that you appreciate? Sounds right about your intellectual level.

Typical Slashdot whining. I may not have a lot of karma to burn but I'll explain why you're making no sense.

You get into the beta for buying three new games for the price of one, these being Episode 3, Portal & Team Fortress 2. It just so happens they're bucking in the original HL2 and Episode One (both of which I paid for) as well. So that's actually 5 great games for the price of one. Yes, that's right. The Orange box is priced comparably to any singular title also in the market.

And typically, you guys whine because you bought HL2. One of these five titles. Whine whine! We want the last three years of development work for free! This from an Editor too.

Er, no. I'm so with Valve on this one. And I don't give a damn if I come over like a fanboi or you all burn me at the stake for heresy.

Ah but you see my point - when one allows one's defences to stagnate then the other competitors begin to take advantage. I realise that this statement sounds 'paranoid', but then this is what nation-states tend towards.

In fact, I actually find it hard to believe I'm coming out with these sort of views, I just did the political ideology test (from another thread) and come out more left-wing then Ghandi. Used to be an awful hippy too. But you just have to look at history to see how these things always resolve.

Forgive me for replying as a non-US citizen, but the history of civilisation is conflict. Do you really think that If the US decided to put away its entire armed forces that say, Russia would decide the time is right for a big cross-planet love-in?

No. If history can teach us anything, it's that the constant flux of power will continue. Where & when one dominates, eventually another will challenge. If anything, there's more conflict in the world than ever before. Perhaps the only causality we can infer is the increasing number of humans.

And the cold war is not over - there was a time-out, perhaps. Read the news, old bean - do try to keep up. Russia is re-engaging in long-range recon missions and indeed the RAF recently intercepted a bomber approaching UK airspace. The old sabre-rattling has begun again.

I hope the post doesn't read as a gung-ho opinion; I'm really opposed to arms proliferation and imperialism. But I also try to be a realist.

Ever worked in banking? Thought not. I've dealt with a mentally retarded gentleman who, despite his inability to manage his account, was continually offered loans & overdrafts. It was NOT in the bank's interest to stop offfering these to him, despite his continually going into debt. He was suicidal, but also an adult, and thus free to make bad decisions, which he made regularly. His family could not help without taking legal action in order to become entitled to manage his money for him. He had only one relative who didn't really understand how banks worked. I got a reprimand for advising his relative on how to work around this, and save the chap further hardship. Because the bank would make less money. Yep, and the whole concept is continually shoved down the public's throat with all the lifestyle TV they watch, continually creating aspirations to own/enjoy goods/services amongst those frankly unable to afford them. In the UK, for instance, the morning and afternoon television is almost entirely dedicated to lifestyle, magazine-type shows that completely target the unemployed/low income with holidays/home improvements that are frankly beyond their reach. And the advertisements in the breaks? The ads are almost ALL for 'low cost loans', showing incredibly delighted people arranging with ease and flair loans for 20k+. They all begin with 'Having problems with debt? Finding it difficult to get a loan?...' I've been off work for a few months and consequently have seen a lot of this crap. Honestly, its disgustingly transparent.

There are very, very few real 'housewives' in the UK anymore - those who can afford to live on their husband's salaries really aren't going to be trying to get these ridiculous loans. It's blatently trageting those least able to afford the immense repayments that these utterly ridiculous loans create.

Really, it totally and utterly disgusts me and I think it's really morally reprehensible.

Viva La Revolution! Surely its coming soon
