LOL, what about a VR suit, I wanna feel the bullets rip into my flesh during quake.
Kind of makes you wonder what happened to all the other projects out there related to VR, like VRML etc.
Talk about technology that has been around since the 50's making a comeback. But if you think about it, in the 50's one would have to have four foot wide coils and cumbersome gear to make it work. How many wanna bet, wireless routers are going to be next? I wanna see your war-drive that...
Do yah really think it makes a difference?

They said, "I think 2004 is going to be a big year for Fedora and Suse, and a challenge for Debian (because Fedora now offers apt for RPM)."
Lets face it, they totally miss the reason I use Debian instead of the others, frankly, I don't even use Apt on Debian. It is a nice feature to have when you actually want to use it from time to time.
Well the worst job listing I ever saw was when I quit a company after 2 years, and found out they were looking for 2 people to fill my position, and each were going to get basically around the same salary I was getting. Made me feel like I should have been paid more.
Actually, something similar happened to me, I was sitting on a domain, and all of a sudden I started getting spam complains. Turns out they were using a link to my domain as to divert attention to the real link they wanted to send people to, however the person who reported it didn't see what the spammer was trying to do, and ended up logging the complaint with spamcop. Spamcop gives you the ability to reply to said spammer and I tried to explain what the spammer was trying to do in their email, item by item. Never received a reply from the person.
They can launch a DDOS attack using other peoples computers via virus, they can set up webpages on those same computer too via virus, our government isn't too saavy when it comes to the internet or computers, and can't afford computer saavy people, they will end up arrest innocent people.
Look at the case of the programmer who wrote Blaster, he had his domain in the flipping thing for godsakes and look how long it took them to figure it was him.
More like will Google become just like all the other companies microsoft has absorbed. I remember when VRML came out and there was this browser that could render it really well, microsoft bought them and VRML is rarely heard of anymore. Well SVG is the next best thing:)
Very well put. Not really a big Windows user, but another thing that I find that they try to do is make everything so seemless so easy for the user, that they make their own holes to begin with. Sure I love stuff like that, that is the main reason everyone wants to be like them, the ease of use factor, but some things shouldn't be done because it can be used maliciously. Hopefully in this next version they put more thought into how this/that feature can be used in a malicious manner.
It is all relative, Linux is far cheaper than Windows. One, I don't have to pay for alot of the software I use. Two, I can administer it myself, since I have lived on unix since college. In contrast, for me, I don't really know how to administer Microsoft, and wouldn't want to leave it wide open, so I would have to hire someone to administer it for me. Not to mention the cost of just the operating system itself, then have to buy all the software I require to use on it. So far for my situation, microsoft cost way more.

I believe Feng put it nice enough. In most nanotechnology engineering courses they say pretty much the same thing.

Yeah, that is how some spammer involved my domain in their spam. http://www.disney.com:gotzthmas@www.slashdot.org
They should cut all that bragging and just say something like this. You want power? Here it is, Apple PowerPC G5. Short and simple...

I didn't hear all that much from Borland about it. Sad to hear that it will be in Limbo.
HAHA, you got to admit it makes things interesting.
Wow Moore's Law at its best. I wonder what is the cost for manufactoring those, perhaps too much to mass produce?
So what if we found something better and turned off Kazaa.
They just might make it 1GHz and knock off L2 cache, or reduce it by half

Yeah, heard about this a while ago, and was dying to get my hand on their new servers.

When I use to work for a company, christmas bonuses were around 5k-6k. But really should be how well yah did that year.
Seems interesting to read. All these patent issues seem to be flaring up all of a sudden check this out.

This is headed in the right direction, all these problems have come to a head recently in so many cases. Would like them to do more though.
