  1. LMFAO on An App Store For iPhone Software · · Score: 1

You're going to want to type all your code on the iPhone itself and compile apps on it? The iPhone simulator simulates multitouch pinch and zoom by holding the option key down which displays 2 circles on the simulator screen. You move your mouse around and the 2 circles move like your fingers. I'm sure someone will find a way to put apps on the iPhone without the App Store application because XCode can do it, unless you can't run the app without XCode running but I don't actually have an iPhone to try it out.

I've been using Apple Mail since 10.0 and it's generally fine. I can't complain at all. Rush's problem seems to be that he doesn't get that Time Machine works at best on an hourly schedule. And I don't know why he's deleting emails left and right if he really needs them. If you get an email after Time Machine did it's last backup but before the next one and you delete it from the Trash in Mail then there's no backup of that email. You may ask why is he deleting emails so often that he really needs. Just file it away or stop emptying the trash every minute. Or don't use IMAP because all the email is on the server not your computer so it's no wonder it's not going to be backed up by Time Machine.

  25. Re:Yeah, RIGHT! on The Life of a Software Engineer · · Score: 1

Maybe if you were in Software Engineering instead of Computer Science you would understand the difference. Software Engineering is applying the engineering principles to software design, to make it more robust and accountable. There may be laws in place that state software companies can't be held liable because of some EULA but that does not mean that SE does not try to apply the engineering discipline to software. In fact, the first 2 years of my program, SE, was taking regular engineering courses along side mechanical, electrical, chemical etc.

And, that's a stupid classification to be called an engineer. According to you, you're only an engineer if your stuff can kill someone and you go to jail or be fined or lose your license. That's bullshit. I can write the P.Eng exam in Ontario and become a professional engineer if I pass the test and meet all other requirements.
