The goal was to inform, not to editorialize, and there was obviously no pressure to "fill in the gaps" left by silence. It really almost gave you a feeling of being there.
You just hit the nail on the head as to what ails American TV broadcast of live events, most commentators don't know when to STFU. You'd never know a picture's worth a thousand words with all the inane drivel being spewed. Sportscasts are the worst in this regard. What I wouldn't give for the ability to filter out the commentators but keep the event/crowd sounds. Sigh...
At least 51% of Americans don't attach this string...
If you're refering to the 62 million Americans that voted for GWB in the last election, I have to point out that only represents 21% of 293 million Americans (July 2004 est., CIA Factbook).
Actually, having the government inacurately querying these databases is what scares me. The last thing I want is to be scooped up in some anti-terrorist sweep because some doufus doesn't know his joins.
Of course, they'll be just as certain I'm a terrorist as they were that Saddam Hussien had vast stocks of WMD when we invaded Iraq.
The RIAA and MPAA can whine all they want about illegal copying. The companies they represent have been ripping off the public for decades and the last I checked karma was a form of justice dished out by a court higher than the Supremes.
No, I'm pretty sure the parent meant President Cheney refering to the popular view that Dick Cheney is to George Bush as Frank Oz is to Kermit the Frog; i.e., the guy with his hand up George's ass making him say what he does.
If a bunch of high school kids can do this maybe we can put an end to all that crap about needing to drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Any patent reform proposals will be fought with basic, easily understandable, concepts of ownership and property. Something like, "I wrote it, I should benefit from it's creation."
MOD PARENT OFF-TOPIC
There is absolutely NOTHING in the article remotely suggesting that patents should be abolished or that creators shouldn't benifit from their creations. The authors simply point out that technological advances and patent policy changes during the last 25 years have 'broken' the U.S. patent process. They go on to provide some commonsense proposals to fix the system. RTFA.
I'm paying $3.95/mo. for a VIP membership at Live365.com. Sure, I paid for 12 months in advance to get that rate, but you still only pay $5.95/mo. on a month to month basis. No adds, no pop-ups, good audio quality (for streaming audio), and with 10K+ streams available, no boredom. It's one of the few things keeping me sane during the workday.
It is also believed the drug may help prevent or restore memory loss in Alzheimer's patients.
What drug is that?
With some
Good one.
Lynn better hope for a better outcome than George Bush got when he told the insurgents in Iraq to 'bring it on'.
As a large portion of the Slashdot and Open Source community will be at SIGGRAPH...
Last I checked, just the Slashdot crowd (based on ID #'s) was 800K+.

Are you going to misspell 'Monopoly', too?

Did you mean to say 51% of voting Americans?
Referring to torture and the Attorney General
in the same sentence is double-plus ungood.
C.L.U.E. Inc. maintains information on insurance claims histories
So if I request my insurance claim history am I 'getting a clue'?
And what's that load groaning in the distance?
I'd prefer to see Darl's pants spontaneously combust in open court.
Q: What are the odds that a person correcting a spelling error in a post will make a spelling error?
I'm pretty certain the air isn't where Mr. Glickman pulled that number from.
Without the ideas no amount of arrogace or persistence will allow you to achieve great hieghts.
It seems to have worked for George W. Bush.
Persistence and determination can accomplish nothing worthwhile if you have no idea what you are doing.
Our current president begs to differ.
Bush will be losing his job in a few weeks.
I wonder which community college he'll be enrolling at?
Yes, yes, I know I spelled inaccurately inaccurately, and bolded it, no less. DOH!!!

Oh, wait. Never mind.
