Wacom's Bamboo on windows having a Mac?... Leopard has a fantastic support for tablet pen. much better than windows vista. Also, with a bit practice, you can use LyX or any other equation editor, combined with Leopard's hand-write recognition. Just an idea
there are many colleges with microsoft oriented stuff (I do not want to imagine the reason)... ergo, many people is educated with a short range of options and ideas such as ".net is the only and true way"
* They like KDE (of course!) * They like linux * They like to customize as much as possible * They like the excellent integration of applications with the desktop * They like the consistence between applications * They like the power of DCOP scripting * They like to use gnome applications:-) *.... a big etc
and, of course, the same arguments (or equivalents) applies for people using gnome, or any other desktop environment... also, any power-user-of-any-desktop-env, at the end, is using the command line...
That's no the coolest thing in the world, but it's fantastic to put in practice many theoretical things learned at school. The machine is based on computer vision and other artificial intelligence techniques... and that's the greatest part for us: we needed to save money, so we made ourselves the complete software instead of buying a pre-designed commercial system (we had enough time for that). The stuff with cameras, PLC's, sensors and more sensors, controlled by a self-designed software is the best way, I think, to *really understand* many things... and it's really really funny!
money
... on the other hand, this is a good thing (just only because other are doing better efforts, not because MS is standards' friend)
