1) Many of us like Star Wars. It's just as stupid, just targetted at a different demographic. Taste does not make something stupid 2) People care about what they do. No matter what happens, people emulate each other. 3) Can you please give an example of a better candidate? Politicians in general kiss too much ass; our democracy will never pick a disruptive leader. 4) That's capitalism. Players are paid that much because someone is willing to. Supply, meet demand.
If they were developed by Physicists, they would be subject related. Psycologists are supposed to know how the brain works, and how we learn. That capacity for learning is what is (or should be) tested, not knowledge of physics or any other subject.
Relax. People here aren't excited by windows 8 because they are already dreading the calls they'll get from their friends and family asking where the damn start button is.
I haven't used windows for years...it still haunts me because i'm too polite to blow off everyone who asks me a computer question.
Exactly this. I bought my wife an iPhone 4s to replace...her camera. Cell Phone Cameras are getting firmly in the range of "Good Enough", and DSLRs are big and heavy.
yea, but the $100/mo plan that the subsidy requires could buy groceries. I am nowhere near the poverty line, and I didn't consider myself affording a smartphone until very recently...
Face facts...Halliburton probably sold the radioactive unit to the terrorists and a re now in the midst of a cover-up or a "blame some low-level field hand."
Are you saying that LulzSec does nothing wrong? If an irresponsible bank teller leaves my social security number on her desk, It's OK for someone to snap a picture of it? We have these laws for a reason. Granted, i'd never go back to the bank, but i'd like my information protected any way that is feasable.
This may be blasphemy, but I like post-2005 Doctor Who more then the pre-1996 series. Tennant was my favorite Doctor, with Baker as a close second. I'm sure I'm not alone.
Geekoid already did this (in comment http://science.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=3211419&cid=41777645), but i want to have a crack at it -

So anyone you don't agree with is therefore stupid? All of those people are more successful then you are, Anonymous Coward.

That sounds like the "Fair Witness" answer...Have you read "Stranger in a Strange Land"? Heinlein was a genious.
I'm really not! Now if only i could convince my family...
They don't really care about your use case. they got your dollar.

I don't know what a subdermal infared modem is, but sign me up! That sounds awesome.

Ha! I see what you did there...
(who are mostly employees or unemployed)
Is there a third option?
yea, but the $100/mo plan that the subsidy requires could buy groceries. I am nowhere near the poverty line, and I didn't consider myself affording a smartphone until very recently...
Wish i had modpoints, to get this comment out of the dump.
Major corperations are NOT insidious. They are a nesessary part of our economy.
Stupid is usually preferred evolutionarily speaking anyway. Bacteria are winning at evolution. It's not even close.
Close...
Simple wins at evolution. Bacteria are the simplist solution.

Facts...if by facts you mean paranoid rambling...
I wonder how many jobs a research project like this creates... "Spending money helping the poor" isn't exactly as simple as it seems.
"How else am I supposed to look cool while i wait in line for food stamps?"
I've seen this at my local store. It sickens me.
It'll run Android 4.1. Which is better.

Is there really that much of a difference? The laptop IS the desktop anymore.
Ummmm mods? Flamebait?
or um....debian? Why all the love for the *buntu distros? Head for the source!

That's funny...firefox was EXACTLY what i was thinking of...
That joke made more sense 15 years ago; emacs is far from the bloatiest thing running on my machine...
