    What really makes it sad is that in my community, I am the minority.

    Why would that make you sad? On my street, I'm not only a minority, I'm downright unique. The only one of "my kind". I'm perfectly ok with it.

    If they want to require anything, it should be for one dedicated channel with a live area weather map. The bandwidth is low and the costs are minimal. But requiring any community service at all is just too "socialist" for some, I guess. The real problem is the fact that the cable companies are granted monopolies in their respective communities. That should be the first thing to go.

    They left out the single biggest thing that make the first two possible. I would like to see how many of you know what it is, but I'm going to spoil it for for you. That's right kids. It's the flawed concept of "Intellectual Property". Get rid of it and progress will FLY! As long as we carry that ball and chain we shall trudge along in perpetuity in our ox carts and cinder block shoes...of course uphill in both directions.

    At one point lawmakers are gonna put their foot down and make sure this comes to an end...

    Only if it was to become a public issue at election time. We're not there yet. Not even close. The lobbyists(and we all know who finances them) are the only ones to bring it up to congress while the rest of us stand by and watch and generally re-elect them anyway.

    That's precisely the same problem I have. And I turned off every security switch I could find...No joy. It has gotten to the point where it's just faster and cheaper for the client to have me format and install XP. Life's too short to mess around like this. And XP runs sooo nice on the new hardware with 2gig of RAM.

    Yes.


    Since we seem to be privatizing our government, it has become time to apply the constitution to non-government entities. We most certainly should not permit these kinds of end-runs around our rights. But for now, don't use BSA software. Just like you shouldn't buy ??AA entertainment.
