    The Chinese? They don't need to attack militarily, because they're taking the long-term view and happily taking on the outsourcing of everything the US manufactures and buying up the trillion-dollar national debt as a bargaining tool.

    Why does the US require this gun? Why, to threaten the bank manager, of course. China will have a tough time 'bargaining' if the US has such cool spacy jammer tech. And no, I don't agree with it, I'm frightened.

    Actually, in a rather worrying development, I fo^H^H heard on the Internet that the Vista beta explorer doesn't support some key features supported in XP. For example, in XP you can type the partial name of a file in an explorer, and explorer will highlight the closest matching file. In Vista b1, all you get is a first letter match :(

    Modafinil (aka Provigil) is already about, tested with very few side effects, only it is restricted to use in miliraty and by prescription only.

    The trick is to sell modafinil on the streets (no need to sleep for a week! w00t!), and use the surplus doctor/nurse shifts to treat those with the minor side effects. And extra police hours to tackle the odd abuser. Sorted.

    Personally, I'd like to see a store that has a 24/7 internet radio station, on-demand streaming, $0.99 downloads

    If $0.75+ out of those $0.99 didn't go to record companies, who then use the money to buy lawyers to make sure that things end in tears, I would be a happier bunny. I'd like to see more independent artists and online stores bypass the middle-men for mutual benefit. But that may be wishful thinking...

    Or is it? Here's a cool indie music site to cheer you up (including political tracks of the season). Their artists "are given 65% of the end-user sales price". Hope they fix their site images up real soon.

    Fundamentally, it's a tradeoff of liberty for security... At some point, I can only hope that we turn around and realize that we can't prevent Bad Things from happening, so we're better off allowing liberty and punishing criminals than eliminating liberty and making criminals out of everyone.

    Firstly, ITER as a source of hydrogen? I know ITER might spur the hydrogen producers, but then could this equally say ITER would be a source of deuterium (heavy hydrogen) and tritium (heavy-heavy hydrogen). Huh?

    Secondly, are these the words of our much loved Mr. Bush or did he just copy and paste some of Spencer Abraham's memos? This looks more like a 'whole party' thing.

    2. The patent is rejected because of prior art. Subsequently, all software patents that follow that piece of prior art should also be invalidated. No more software patents!
