I think that by "professional artist" the parent was refering to someone who's full time job is making creative works (ie music). Yes creation has gone on for thousands of years without copyright but very few people have been able to make a living off of it, and, being that copying and distrobution of works is so easy today, I dont see how anyone could make a living off of it now.
What I think would be alot cooler is if someone stuck a small wireless camera (you can pick them up for like $30 on ebay) on a kite. It would be alot lighter as those things are tiny (the heavyest part would likely be the 9v battery), and you still make stills later if you really wanted to. Just my 2c.
Dont live in the dorms Rent your own apartment, and if you choose to have a roomate to share costs with then interview them first to make sure they arent the type that would steal stuff from you.
wow, I hope "universal UK ID card." doesnt mean they are going to try to implement these in North Ireland too. Almost all the Catholics in the country (about half the population) are already pissed at the UK government and want to split off and go back to being part of Ireland. I cant imagine making them all carry bio. ID cards will make them feel any better about UK rule.
