Are they going to share their patches to stuff like the open source radeon driver, the open source nvidia driver, and mesa to upstream? They might just say 'we will give you all the source for our linux distribution, except the steam client(obviously), the streaming client, and any in house made performance enhancements.'
I used to think like this, but that was before I had a job at a major mail order prescription company. Middle management tried to impress upper management by purchasing a one million dollar automated packing system, in theory it could do thousands of orders a day. Far outclassing a single human packer at a packing station. It only did that occasionally, why? It was a dumb automated machine, ONE little deviation and it stopped working. This was on top of other stuff on it not working like printing the wrong order's paper work, it throwing a fit if the rx's did not come down the line in the exact order it expected. It also did not care if for instance the printers messed up, or the paper came out non flat causing the grabber arm to get it stuck on it. This is the general problem with automation fantasies, physicly it may be possible to replace the human doing the job with a machine. But the machine is no where near as fault tolerant as a human. If one of these machines encounters a minor error such as product being out of order, or objects not being 'exactly' where it expects it to be, they stop at best and at worst ignoring it causing more problems. For a human worker it's just a fraction of a second routine correction.
Acknowledging a fact, and advocating for it are two different things. I hope one day you realize the difference.
I Acknowledge that from 100,000 years ago to roughly 10,000 years ago being born blind or with any such handicap was a death sentence. If not by nature then by fellow tribesmen who can't afford to take on an extra burden of someone who can't do anything. I Acknowledge that from about 10,000 years ago to only 200 or so years ago, being born with a handicap entitled you to a short life at worst. At best depending on your class, creed, and culture you might live a semi productive life.
We have the tools now to overcome our limitations, but those won't last long. How long is up to debate. So I Acknowledge the fact that without those tools we will be back to viewing those things as burdens. Yet with them a handicapped person, baring prevention by class and creed, can live a full productive life.
Do I advocate for those things to happen? No, I do admit that these facts exist. I admit that while wrong to anthromorphize nature by saying nature doesn't care, but it is the best way to describe it.
Well here is the thing. It would of happened in nature anyway, if he was born as any other animal he would of died young. If humans were still living as we were when we first came onto the planet, he would of.
No just poking holes in you're 'always respect' comment. Age does not equal wisdom or knowledge. And it is no secret about office politics, the corporate office system as it is now is geared to psycopathic behavior. And unless you are born into the boss's or owner's family. Or are a family friend. It is the only way to get ahead.
If i had not already posted a bunch. I would mod this up as MUCH as i can. I think most of the gen x and y people. Myself included looking at our parents. The so called 'baby boomers and greatest generation(HA)'. Saw how the 50+ work hour weeks wrecked them, heard how they lamented how they did not have the time they wanted for themselves. Or how they could not spend the time they wanted to their family. And thought. No, I, won't do that to myself.
There is a problem, or maybe it was the 'point' of the work hard mindset. That if you work hard at where you're at, you can be seen as 'you best fit here' so the bosses will pass you over for promotion because they figure your replacement will be worse.
But to be honest, everyone should agree and realize it's not your merits that get you jobs and promotions. It has always been and always will be WHO you manage to befriend, and WHO'S family you were born into.
*Snort* *laugh* Sorry, I find that very funny considering I work with someone who by all rights and accounts who is in their fifty's should not be there. He doesn't meet the minimum requirements to have the job, he is a high school drop out, proud of it. Talks in south Carolina drawl, cat calls all the female employees, and has this 'fantasy' that everyone in the place is 'related'.
So where is yahwey defending these people? Sorry, Rights are only given to the people by the government to the point that the people force the government to allow it. What we see here is a populace not informed enough, and too complacent to keep the government in check to keep these rights available.
Actually a lot of the autobahn now has speed limits. And yes it has cut the amount of deaths there by a lot. I in fact like this idea. My life should not be put at risk because some rich jack ass in a merc wants to go 90 while everyone else is going 65-70.
I know this is feeding the troll, but. The united states DOES do those things. Just not within their own boarders. They are doing it now in Iraq and Afghanistan, they did it all the time in South America by funding and arming terrorist groups there.
It is actually worse than that. It's a third party program, not intended for corporate use, put on over 10k computers. That is several dozen if not more different hardware configurations. The program is bound to malfunction on some of them. This is on top of the fact you still have to somehow 'train' all those 10k+ people on how to use it too.
Not to mention monsanto has had the courts rule in their favor that patents follow the genes. So if these weeds are growing on your property, monsanto can now sue you for illegally obtaining their patented product. it doesn't mater nor do the courts care that it got there by means beyond your control.
Worse than that Under these laws in the uk and the ones they were modeled after in the us. Once you're declared a terrorist you have no rights. You're now back to the days even before the magna-carta, the foundation for all pro citizen law in the western world. Where the king, or in this case the state, declares you guilty. And you cannot prove yourself otherwise.
Even before the nsa spying thing i did not trust stuff like se-linux because of its ties to the nsa. You do make a 'great' point here, especially since companies like microsoft, intel, amd, dell, etc will have the master tpm keys.
Actually I could see them doing this. After the company is mostly in ruins following failed product after failed product and no longer being able to rely on install base anymore.
They could very easily do what apple did, buy a version of the bsd source like the mach bsd. Only tweak the internals a little and focus on a window manager and a select few programs.
Umm. No, they were unfounded. The 'documents' you're referring to are the venona intercepts. You can read them here. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/venona/intercepts.html It had nothing to do with undermining the entire U.S. Government as McCarthy was paranoid about. It was about Our government trying to find soviet spys who were only here for one thing. To get information on the atomic bomb. If you actually knew the history of the time, there was a short period where the united states was the only actor to have nuclear weaponry and everyone wanted it.
Wait, I seem to recall they already got his assets frozen and unavailable to him? If not, then there is nothing stopping them from doing so, so why the conspiracy to bleed him dry in court costs when they can just seize it over night?
Until google fiber hits my area of the Kansas city metro area (this includes the suburb city's like Lenexa, overland park, and Olathe). It's either at&t(which i have) or Comcast(which i dropped because they kept dropping my connection every 5 minutes between 6am and 11pm.) I am in the same boat. But it could be worse. There are area's of the country where your choice is one of the following. at&t, comcast, twc, or verizon dsl.
Actually, yes it can. "“By leaking this key and the firmware source, it is possible (and simple) for others to create malicious UEFI updates that will be validated and installed for the vendor’s products that use this Ivy Bridge firmware,” "
It will allow those with secure boot, that is on and has no user visible way of shutting it off. Because every extra option in a uefi/bios costs system builders like dell and hp money. a way of disableing it by flashing a bios, uefi image with that option or it permanently set to off.
Are they going to share their patches to stuff like the open source radeon driver, the open source nvidia driver, and mesa to upstream?

Which are shortcuts to where they are installed in wine.

Also rip out se-linux too. As well as roll your own ipsec implementation.

All one has to do with Gentoo to get things to play mp3 out of the box is add 'mp3' to the use flags list.
