  3. Microsoft Central Command on Microsoft Looks At Integrating Forums and E-mail · · Score: 2, Insightful

Well for a true Web forum style Outlook to truly work, you would want a centrallized server storing the threads. Relying on client-only (or is standard email best described as peer-to-peer with the ISP just handling delivery) programs would lead to fracture of threads. So with the wonderful XP authentication system, Passport, Messenger and now outlook only being served out of Redmond, not only will MS have a large control of your communication pathways they will be ever so close to offering the dream of the internet-gurus/techno-prophets where are applications are server/portal based and client machines are simple tty boxes with expensive processors/memory plus flash card readers but no harddrives. Hell once the world is truly wireless you will just need you Pocket PC and a good calling plan and Bill will do the rest for you.

Sorry got sloppy there at the end. I mentioned the peptidases to eat up everything else so that the "DNA" extract would be somewhat pure and then segued into dna cutting without changing enzymes.

  11. It will tell you if you have DNA but not much else on Home DNA Sequencing · · Score: 2, Informative

Well it will never give you a full dna report as you need to do more than just a simple gell. I am curious as to what the enzymes are. My guess is that they are specific for certain base patterns and cut the DNA into smaller pieces. (Alternatives they could be peptiases and just eat up the protein from the peas) The smaller pieces will transverse the gell faster than the larger pieces. So while the experiment will detect DNA all it will be able to report on is how many pieces of DNA you can create with the enzymes. Of course, if you do not know the enzyme, even this info will be useless.

But the rate of diffusion of water and methanol will be approximately the same. Given the much larger concentration of methanol, the metanol will be replenished faster than the water byproduct could dilute the double layer around the electrode. Thus the need for a physically separate reaction area distinct from the methanol store. You would a barrier to control the rate of methanol diffsion as well

  13. Re:The details on Hitachi Readies Fuel Cell for PDAs · · Score: 2, Interesting

I think you would only get two water molecules for each methanol consummed. (need to work out the wreaction) Given the similar densities and the original 20% methanol concentration. You will only be looking at a 20 to 30% volume increase. If it is 4 to 1 ratio you would definitely begin to have storage issues. A bigger issue would be to ensure the CO2 gas exit is not plugged. Hot electronicss + pressure + flamable material = new PDA

  14. 20% solution? on Hitachi Readies Fuel Cell for PDAs · · Score: 1

If the working concentration is 3 - 6%, why do they start at 20%? I can only assume they have a reaction area + methanol reservoir and the water from the actual reaction is used in the reaction area to dilute the stream of methanol from the reservoir.
